Hey guys!!! I haven't been on for a little over a month but I have been peeking in to see what's been going on...overall, I'd say it's been pretty slow in the ol' Hangout. I just came back from a vacation trip to San Antonio, and I find out that I have to start boarding up my house...I just finished a little while ago. I helped my recently-retired dad board up his house too, and Tara is at the store picking up some non-perishable foods. Claudette is on a path just north of Brownsville, which is good because we won't get the brunt of the storm. Has anyone here been through a Tropical Storm/Hurricane recently? My last Hurricane was Allen, but that was in '80. So many good things have happpened during this summer so far. I hope I'll have time to post what's been going on. I'll try to keep you guys updated from the front line of the storm.
Welcome back FT. was wondering what happened to ya.. Claudette isnt very strong, so just to be safe, I would board over the windows and make sure eyou have water, batteries, food for a few days just to be safe. Where are you? for some reason I was thinkin you were more this direction..
And the weather service has warned us to brace ourselves for the onslaught of tropical storm Claudette. And if you think naming a destructive storm after a woman is sexist, you obviously have never seen the gals grabbing for items at a clearance sale.
If you said I'm from Brownsville, you got it right. It looks like it'll hit a little north of me, but I had been meaning to pick up the Plylox and plywood and cut it to size and this was the perfect excuse...Besides...me and my dad did a lot of bonding working together!!! I've been enjoying my vacation, but I haven't changed my screen name yet because I haven't been picked up by any other schools...yet. Summer's been really busy and fun...settling into the new home, selling our old home, spenting a lot of family time together, and I recently got to take my son for a full weeks vacation time. It might not sound like a lot to some, but this is the first time in three years that I've had him for more than 24 hours straight. As far as the storm, I'm not too too worried, because it's seems pretty weak and we'll hopefully be getting the south end of it, but it'll still be an experience and we are prepared. I'm considering taking out a month of full insurance on my mustang and leaving it out to take a beating.
