    Okay

so we blew an "un-blewable" lead

    so Yao sucked

    Tmac cooled off

    Head sucked

    everyone else sucked
    but On the brightside

    This game

    1. exposed all the flaws in our game, giving the coaching team and the players a chance to think about what went wrong and hopefully change that for the latter part of the season

    2. prevented our players being cocky

only 2 brightspots I can come up with

Yao always has a bad game after playing Shaq. I think the physical toll of that game hurts both Shaq & Yao.

    3. A good lesson about what a champion team should look like.

We are growing-up team , so
Losing early is much better than losing final.

We will growing more and rapidly in hard-working lost game than win so-so game.

This was just as dramatic as our comeback win against the Spurs 2 years ago....

    I guess it evens out.

    One lesson is
JVG should play more bench, Our Billy , Our SuperNovak...
The regular season is something about building up team, not winning game by exhausting our stars. ;)

dont forget the most important bright spot...we had a a double digit lead on the Spurs late in the 3rd quarter!! the spurs are a top team in the NBA and to be up by that much late in the game like we were shows me that we do belong in the upper portion of the league...now only if we could play like we did in the first half for the whole game...then no team could stop us

On the bright side, Yao goes for 7-22. Although he was way off tonight, he kept on shooting. And you know that he is not going to miss like this very often. He is having the mentality of the go-to guy right now.

There is no bright side to the seond half of this game and all that we accomplished in the first half was for naught given what took place in the second half, since that is where we fell apart and lost a game we really needed to win! There is no one on this site that hates losing to the Spurs as much as I do. I am a native Houstonian and live in SA and I am sick to death of losing to them! We could have won and we didn`t!

i hope it shows to jvg what an unpredictable bench we have...we need a sixth man who can step up on nights when the starting five lose their touch...WHICH IN OUR CASE WAS MEANT TO BE BONZI!!...fat b*stard...i cant believe how long it's taking him to be ready...

Tmac showed in the first half that his "first step" is still very well intact

    The bright side is:

I believe every game against Spurs is VERY winnable. They have NO mismatch advantage on us comparable to Yao and Tmac over them. As long as Yao makes those shots as he usually do, even TD cannot guard him. I must rather play Spurs than mavs or suns.

Yao still need to work on fronting. I cannot believe it is still a problem after 4 years.

I was watching "Clutch City" this afternoon and all I thought about during the Rockets meltdown in the second half was NOT AGAIN!!!!

This Rocket team has it. They need to go over what went wrong and NOT let it happen again. Let's see how they respond.....well at least for the next game.

It looked like the rough plays on Yao took the wind out of him right from the start of the game. Spurs has 3 big scrub men (Oberto, Elson and Horry) to confront Yao, and when the going gets tough, they will have Duncan on Yao. It is up to TMac and other role players to step up. They did their job in 3 and 1/2 quarters, more than adequately. Unfortunately Yao was still not able to get into offensive rythm. His 3 missed FTs seemed innocuous at the time since we were leading by quite a large margin, but in hindsight, those misses were part of the reason why our lead was not sustainable. Also, throughout the game, Yao was beaten on boards by Spurs big men. The loss of Hayes is huge.

wnes - you beat me - I agree totally that Hayes being out was a huge minus for our team. Hayes would have been pesky and grabbed a mess of rb's inside and got some putbacks that the other bigs kept missing.

When is Les going to make the big donation to the referee retirement fund so we can get some calls? Gosh I get tired of Yao getting beat up and then not even getting the call. And I am sure Bowen fouled a few more times than the box score shows. We kept complaining about the Spurs no-calls and the Spurs fans behind us never challenged us once. They know what is going on. Timmy is Superman to the refs.
