This recruiting season has been quiet compared to the last few years. I don't subscribe to any recruiting info sources, so does anyone have any info on this years class?
They've been pretty much done for the last few months. The only real target they have is Franklin Okam, Rivals' #2 DT. He'll prob go to OU though. UT's recruiting has been somewhat down last year and this year. It's high time the coaching staff coaches for once. If they don't coach soon enough, a 7-5 or 8-4 season may not be too far.
I think one reason for UT's apparent decline is because of the early recruiting. They seem to take a lot of "reaches" who somehow impressed the coaches at their Summer Camp. Dustin Miksch is the poster child of early recruiting gone bad. Early recruiting is why Joe Pa looks like the most inept coach right now in the world, despite his 300+ wins.
Why doesn't Miksch ever see the field? Didn't we basically offer him because of his 40 time. It doesn't really matter since we never used our receivers well anyway. People in denial would point to having the highest average stars last year, but this year it's pretty clear it's fallen off when 10 Texas players are in the top 100 in the nation and we don't get many and NONE of the top 3. We did get a few players though: Andrew Kelson Orakpo George Walker Jordan Shipley
Don't forget about Xavier Lee, the best dual threat quarterback in the nation. He was in Austin last weekend, and by all reports was exteremely impressed. Doesn't Mack say that a recruit has never made a visit to Austin and not committed?
He committed to FSU. Not a surprise. What QB would be crazy enough to come here with Davis still here?
You have a link to confirm this? I've looked but haven't been unable to find anything. The last I heard he was leaning against FSU because they had already signed a top QB recruit.
Uh, you heard wrong... FSU has been the leader from Day 1. FSU's QB commit has been a commit since July. He announces for FSU tommorow at his hs banquet. UT's only recruiting target right now is Franklin Okam.
