Longhorns Fans: If UT goes undefeated and doesn't get a chance to play for the.......

Discussion in 'BBS Hangout' started by JBIIRockets, Nov 2, 2005.

?

How would you feel if UT was the odd team out?

  1. I can handle it. An undefeated season is good enough for me

    10.0%
  2. I'd be devastated. Followed Texas all year only to be backstabbed because there is no playoff

    62.2%
  3. I don't care about the Horns, so their final standing means little to me.

    27.8%

.....National Championship, How would you feel?

I would be terribly upset and it would dent my passion for college football.

If Va Tech runs the table, and in convincing fashion, they will be breathing right down UT's neck.

My passion for college football is already dented due to what a joke this is. Instead of talking about and enjoying the resurgance of the Alabama program, Vick the Younger playing great in Blacksburg, Vince Young's taking the team on his back in Stillwater last weekend, and the team out in South Central Los Angeles that's making an unprecedented run (and running headfirst into what could be the matchup of the year with a possibly undefeated crosstown rival), most of the talk surrounding college football has to do with freakin' computers and how they rank the teams.

    It's becoming a flat-out joke, IMO.

VT yes, alabama no. It could be the same thing that happened to Auburn and somebody will get screwed. Theres good arguments for all teams, they just need to fix the system

Am I wrong in my recollection that it has been University Presidents that have opposed a playoff system?

WHOA. I am the only one happy enough with an undefeated season? Don't get me wrong, I would also feel devastated, but there is not AND option here...

    Uhh, yeah...

Imagine the Rockets and Spurs both going 81-1 with the one loss being to each other, but the Spurs get to play the Heat in the NBA Finals because they had a higher margin of victory than the Rockets did...would you be pissed? ;)

Until Division I-A football goes to a schedule and playoff system like the other divisions of NCAA football, this question has the possibility of applying to some school each year. I think the bowl system has outlived its usefulness.

I think clearly Virginia Tech and Alabama, as well as UCLA if they only lose to USC are so vastly superior to the Longhorns that.....

Oh why lie....I haven't been flamed for some weeks for hating the Horns and I kind of miss it!

If USC blows out VaTech in the "championship game" and UT destroys their opponent, the BCS is finished.

    That's my prediction.

bama is NOT that good, and they WILL lose before the end of the season.

BTW.... i am a bama fan (my little sister my be going there next year). i just dont think they're as good as their ranking indicates.

My prediction is that there will NEVER be a playoff of ANY kind in I-A football. There's too much money involved with the bowls.

My other prediction is that Miami beats VaTech on Saturday deeming this argument moot...at least for this year.

This scenario wouldn't be any different than what Auburn had to go through last year.

    1. Before it happened to Auburn, there weren't any blatant flaws in the system. Auburn caught people by surprise partly because they were barely in the Top 10 to begin the season.

    2. UT is a more renowned program. Auburn doesn't have the alumni or the cache.
