Trying to find one thing that pisses me off most about the Rockets, it's their inability to put together a long winning streak. Longest winning streak: San Antonio - 13 game streak Dallas - 9 game streak Memphis - 8 game streak Minnesota - 6 game streak Denver - 6 game streak Houston - 4 game streak Utah (last place, .500 team) 4 game streak THAT'S the longest streak the Rockets can put together? 4 games? Both times they've had a chance at a 5 game streak, they've played extremely poor. November 13th @ Dallas: 40% shooting in an 11 point loss to Dallas December 11th vs. San Antonio: 67 total points, 25 points at halftime Three separate three game winning streak since December 31st interspersed with a 66 point upchuck against the Pistons, only scoring 83 points against a very poor defensive team in the Grizzlies, and of course allowing 50% shooting and 99 points in that debacle against the Heat...the Heat, people... On that note, have the Rockets played decently in a loss this season? I can honestly think of only a couple of losses in which I didn't feel like picking up my TV and chunking it out the front door
If you check the box scores of ROX' game, you may see something. SF3 and CAT cannot play consecutive games well. After one big game, either SF3 or CAT would be off for a while. I don't know why.
Are you kidding me? Houston only had five field goals in the final quarter of that game and missed about 9 or 10 straight shots. I'm talking about a loss in which the Rockets played consistently for four quarters.
ok.... I should have known better. You dont want a straight answer....you just want another opportunity to b****... carry on then..
We can always conjure up ways to get pissed. You would think that with us not having a long winning streak we would therefore be far from those teams in the standings. Funny enough we are close to most of them. Probably we are more consistent than the other teams or some of them may have had longer losing streaks as well. The bottomline for me is # of losses. Are you still pissed? Try to take some comfort in having the 4th best road record in the conference.
What you expect them to shoot 70% from the field in all 4 quarters We played well in Memphis, they outplayed us.
4 is the magic number. We couldnt break last year, neither did we this year. I think we never broke 4w's in SF's era. So there you go, another bullet to shoot SF
Yeah, against mostly East teams... Believe it or not, there is a mental aspect to basketball. Teams get a certain swagger when they go on a long tear. They start threading those passes that resulted in turnovers previously. They start making those shots that they wouldn't make. I think the refs even give teams on a hot streak more calls. Take tonight's game against the Kings. Do you think the Rockets' confidence might be a little higher had they not played so poorly against Miami? I personally think it has a significant impact on how a team plays, though most people don't feel the same way...
No, I expect them to play DECENTLY in al four quarters, unless you consider 12 points in one quarter decent...
I thought we played well in Memphis too. They just played better. In Miami I think the Rockets were just exhausted. They didn't have it in them due to the fact it was their third game in four days. Not to mention nobody expects a shooting display like that out of the Heat. As poorly as the Rockets played I don't think the Heat could have duplicated that win because they can't consistently shoot at anywhere near that level. And I agree with DearRock. Obviously if we're competing with the other teams listed and haven't had a winning streak as long as any of them then we haven't had a losing streak as long as them either. The glass is half empty. The glass is half full.
I wouldn't mind Rockets not having longer winning streak if they can have 3 wins and then a loss for every 4 games.
which team in the west with a better record than us do you think we are superior to at this point? i think our record accurately reflects how good we are right now. every team has off nights and usually when we have lost and played poorly, it was also combined with an inspired effort fom the other team. we had a mediocre game against indy and managed to pull it off because they didn't play so well either. we ARE improving and at some point we will get on a little streak. you have some awfully funny posts, but you are often too negative and nitpicky. have a little faith.
Didn't the Rockets go 5-0 on a homestand last season? I think the final game of that stretch was the Phoenix victory that clinched a 3-1 season series against them and marked Rudy's last game as Rockets coach. Anyway, back to the topic at hand, it's true that the Rockets have been unable to run off a long winning streak this season, but the one thing they've done well lately is bounce back after a loss. Last year, they'd follow up a 4-game winning streak with 3 or 4 losses in a row. Lately this season, it's been 4 wins followed by a loss followed by another 3 wins and so on and so forth. Now that may not be as exciting as a 15-game winning streak, but the end result will be a team that wins well over 60% of its games and finishes no worse than 6th in the ultra-competitve Western Conference. Coming off of 4 straight lottery seasons, I can "settle" for that.
they played well in the loss against Memphis and the loss against denver. What usually happens in a close loss is that the team that loses makes the most mistakes towards the end, therefore losing. To find a game where they played near flawless ball and lost, would be one of the best games ever played, so its not really fair.
It's pretty sad when Memphis can win eight in a row, and the Rockets can barely get to half of that. It's not just sad, it's pathetic.
Wah, Wah, Wah.... A-Train, Since you seem to be so f#$cking miserable about the Rockets, try to look at it his way.... 1. We are right now the 6th seed in the West and this is where we were predicted to go, the 5 teams ahead of us are considered "elite," and we will most likely not catch up with them. 2. We are well on our way of winning 50+ games this season. 3. We have the best defense in the league, period. 4. Our offense has improved drastically since the beginning of the season. 5. We have two All-Stars again and they both might start. Ya, I want the Rockets to be the #1 team in the West, but I know it's not going to happen this year. We're basically a lock for the playoffs, we are a much improved team, and ya'll are still b****ing. I want the best for the Rockets, but I have to be realistic.
