sure this could have been a poll, but i hate those stupid 2 choice polls. as i awoke this sunday morning, i was checking on the WTC happenings when all of a sudden the rockets jumped back into my head. yeah i thought it was weird too. i was wondering if there was any news on jackson yet so i poped over to CC, and low and behold the lack of information continued. its kinda frustrating knowing there is a 2 week period before GS must make a decision. well i was wondering to my self as i read about the last FEMA task force leaving NY, if this long wait helps the rockets chances at snagging Jackson?? i always belive the longer waits hurt the persuer because the team with the product has more time to squirm. but who knows. all i know is that i want news now!! your opinions and support innmy time of need will be greatly appreciated PEACE
If GS wanted Jackson, they could have already had him. I say its a good sign. I think they are trying to deal one of their big men, then pickup Jackson. Its tough to get a deal worked out in 15 days.
Excellent point, but what is Denver's salary cap situation? Also is McDyess' injury worth going signing someone like Jackson over? I ask because preliminary reports say that Dice could be out less than 2 months. NugzFan, Nuggets4, you guys out there?
DoD, you old fuddy duddy. Why would Jackson want to go to denver, bleh. Houston is where it's at. bah, I can wait a couple of weeks, you wussies. I still remember the SA crap, now that was torture!
The reason would be so that he can get the hell out of GSW. No one is saying he will or can, I'm just asking can he? Is it possible with what the Nuggets have on their team? If not great, if so, be worried.
Golden State can't trade Marc Jackson. Unless Denver decides to take Dampier and his huge contract, or reacquire Danny Fortson and his huge contract, Denver likely isn't going to deal with the Warriors.
Actually, Fortson's contract isn't that big ($4.44 mill) for what he brings to the game. However, it is long with 6 years left on it.
The longer the wait, the more difficult it gets.I'm worried that GS might send Fortson back to the Nuggets if they can get matching salaries, one player who could be useful to GS could be Voshon Lenard who could help Jason Richardson.
guys, seriously we arent getting fortson, jackson, dampier, or any warriors. trust me. 1 - the warriors wouldnt trade them for guys we are willing to give up (e.g. lenard, cheaney, cook) 2 - they all have big contracts...we are close to the limit and our owner wont go over for some bench big man. he might for raef or someone like that. worry about some other team like the magic or something.
hey i just went over 400. do i get a prize? honorary 400-post member? wheres mah trophy? can i get a "my son is a 400 post member at clutchcity.net bbs" bumper sticker for my moms car? shell be so proud when i tell her.
IMO, GS has a significant problem in dealing with Jackson because: 1. Jackson was a very good player last year for them. He came out of nowhere and was a groin injury away from rookie fo the year. He would very likely be their starting center if he stayed with them. 2. Jackson absolutely does NOT want to play for GS. He and coach Dave Cowens don't get along (who does get along with Cowens???). Cowens has been critical of him and Jackson has no interest in returning to GS at ALL. 3. Jackson LOVES Houston. For as much as he wants to leave GS, he wants to be a Rocket even more. 4. GS cannot trade Jackson now that he has signed the offer sheet. If they match, they'd have to wait 90 days to trade a disgruntled player and then Jackson would still be able to dictate where he would go for a year. 5. GS is loaded with frontcourt depth. The last thing they need is another C/PF on the roster, especially one who doesn't want to be there. 6. General Manager Gary St. Jean has stressed several times to the media over the summer that chemistry is their highest priority. They want guys who want to be there and want to work hard to win. Talent is secondary to team chemistry. What this all adds up to is that the Warriors probably will have to let Jackson go but they may very well wait just to make sure no one gets injured as Clutch suggested. Honestly, that's probably a smart move. If Dampier goes down, Jackson, attitude and all, is still better than a hole at that position. But, GS is in a tight spot. If they sign Jackson, they risk a PR nightmare because they brought back a guy who didn't want to play there and is pissed about it wrecking the very thing (chemistry) you promised to place as your highest priority. If they don't bring him back, they lose one of their better (and cheaper) players for nothing. Not an enviable position to be in.
Wow, thanks for the info Hottodie. I knew Fortson's contract stretched 6 years but I thought he made more per year then $4.44 mill. That was actually a steal for the Warriors, assuming Fortson's foot heals fine after the fluke mistake by the doctor in Boston that caused it to be reinjured. Oh, and thanks for the info Jeff!
Jeff, So, what you're saying is that we, as Rocket fans, should pray, cross our fingers, toes , eyes, & whatever else, to insure that none of their injury prone big men get injured by the 17th? Man, that's a lot of pressure to put on the fans.
