To paraphrase T-Mac: We should all be inspired by Mt. Mutombo!

How can anybody not get excited watching him out there?

He doesn't play the whole season and is suddenly called upon to start. He gives you everything you could ask for and then some.

Deke, at the age of 41, is still a better rebounder and shot blocker than most players in the league including Yao. His elbows are as sharp as ever. Did you see Carmello go out of his way to make sure he didn't catch one last night?

In addition to being a basketball player, he's a philanthropist, entertainer, cheerleader, and clup hopper. Join me in celebrating the play of the ageless wonder!

Uncle Mutombo is a great person. Will miss him - 1 more year or championship before he goes.

Deke is the old throwback center. He stays in his range and he know who he is. His instincts for blocking shot and rebounds are still very good. I hope Yao watches the way Deke protects himself with the elbows.

What's really impressive is the way he's played zero minutes all year and he just turns it on the second he steps in.

    Why not re-sign the guy?

I was hoping he would be seeing some playing time down the stretch, but I was hoping the reason was just to rest Yao. :(

Regardless, Deke is amazing both on and off the court. D*mn glad he's on this team!

I did not want the Rockets to re-sign him, thought the roster spot would be better served by a developing player.

I was wrong.....Deke has been great as a mentor to the young guys, and an inspiration to the team when Yao went out.

Sign him up for another year.....

About to order my custom made Dikembe Mutombo Houston Rockets jersey. The guy is a straight up pimp by far the most entertaining player to watch whether playing or not. Always has a smile on his face while sitting on the bench, always serious like what the [expletive] were you thinking bringing that junk near my basket. He gets into so many people's heads defensively. He made Marcus Camby last years defensive player of the year look like a scrub. All Hail Mount Mutombo!

Nothing more to be said, guy is just a great, great person. On or off the court.

    Go Dikembe!

Yeah dude what insolence from a loser like K-Mart. The guy should show some respect to his elders and betters. I mean when Jordan does it, it's understandable.

But who the hell is Kenyon Martin to be dissin' old 55 like that?

yeah but it shows you the level of smarts k-mart is dealing with when he does that when his team is being blown out, think they were down 13 or 15 after that dunk

On one side yes its inspiring. On the other side its completely hilarious when he takes 5 seconds of our 24sec clock after a block to wag his finger making no attempt to run the floor. Don't get me wrong I love it. But its hilarious.

plus there were a couple instances last night in the 2nd half when the team sort of stopped stunned after mutombo made a crazy block and didn't bother running down the ball.

in particular during a sequence while denver was hitting 3 shots in a row, including a wide open 3 by najera

Why should he run up the court on a fast break, he is only needed on Defense.
