wizards have posession in the end, but the idiot threw the ball up in the air to celebrate, instead, morris peterson got the ball made a 3, tied the game, and raptors won in overtime.
Michael Ruffin with the Stupid Play of the Week! IMO, this was right up there with Rasheed's shot because the Wizards had possession with 4 seconds left, were up by 3 and Mo Pete got the ball in his hands and hit that shot. I just knew the Wizards were going to lose in OT. They deserved it because the way they closed the last 2 minutes of regulation was pathetic. If the Wizards keep this up, they are 1st round dead meat. In the last seconds of OT, someone tell me why Gilbert attacked the basket (and got blocked BTW) when they were down by 3.
(shakes head in disbelief) Only incident I seen that could beat it was a game in the Big12 tournament in 2003 when some guy caught an inbounds when his team was up by 2 with 3secs left. Nobody was within 25ft of him and he proceeded to celebrate but the refs called traveling. It resulted in a game winner by the other team(Colorado I think) and dude left the court crying.
I would've done the same thing, maybe I'm dumb, lol, but when I saw that live I thought it was a smart move(before the MoPete shot). I would've thrown the ball all the way down court though, not straight up in the air.
i've always thought with only a few seconds left in a one possession game players should just throw the ball up in the air and let time run out instead of waiting to get fouled and having to make ft's. however, my plan called for throwing the ball more than 16 feet in the air (it only took 2 seconds from the time it left his hands until it got back into mo pete's, meaning he only threw it 16 feet up) and to throw it well out of bounds or back towards your basket. not right to another player. with a good throw any player could get 4+ seconds of hang time. although to be fair to ruffin, i'm pretty sure it slipped out of his hand a little (he even said as much in the AP article) and thus he didn't get near as much on it as he planned to. if he throws it about 5 feet higher, peterson wouldn't have had time, and if he throws it twice as high, time expires before it even gets to mo pete, much less in time for mo to catch and shoot like he did. tough way to lose. not sure if it's better or worse than the rasheed play. on the one hand, there were only 1.5 seconds left in the detroit game as opposed to about 4 here and rasheed's shot was even crazier than peterson's, but in this case washington actually had the ball whereas denver was just trying to inbound it w/ 1.5 and never had possession.
I honestly can't wait to see the post game press conference. Who wants to bet this guy doesn't play again this season?
Same here! I just kept watching it over and over again. It's too damn funny, all the Wizards' reactions.

that is amazing. many players in that situation do the same thing and it looks like it clearly slipped some when he threw it, so i won't go to hard on ruffin. still, that was simply crazy.
