I think I almost crapped my pants and threw up at the same time. Sorry for the graphic details.... Anyway they were talking about Okur's good defense in the first half of game 3 vs Tim Duncan, and JVG said "Yeah but you've still gotta make. You've gotta contribute on both ends of the floor." Maybe JVG should've preached this word more this season and he would still have a job. It also would've helped if he would be more accepting of guys like Okur who can contribute on the offensive end. Okur is not known for his defense, but he has definitely picked it up in these playoffs. A lot of good offensive players do a lot more on defense in the playoffs, but guys who couldn't hack it on the offensive end in the regular season always have the same or worse results in the playoffs. Hopefully our front office will keep this in mind in the future. This is a pretty good argument against the addition of Battier, especially given his teams' playoff success (3 wins and 16 losses).
He was referring to this game in particular...not the series vs. Houston. Believe it or not, every comment made by JVG for the rest of his life won't be related to the Rockets inability to beat the Jazz in this year's playoff series. But I'm sure a moron like you will pretend that they do.
JVG is no longer our coach. What do you care what he says on a broadcast about a game that doesn't involve us?
LOL ... you guys need to direct the same stuff to that Almu thread, which is all about a dead man walking
not trying to add insult to injury here but did anyone catch jvg talking about consistent attacking of the rim after parker got elbowed in the face by fisher? he mentioned in general about relentless attacking of the hoop and not letting any physical play stop you from going back to penetrating. He also said that a player shouldn't let that physical play continue to get you hurt or injured and cause you to miss a game here or there. i want to say it wasn't a small jab at mcgrady but i can't help thats what it seemed like.
He is an analyst now. What do you expect him to say. Physical play should stop the other team from penetrating. People need to stop thinking he is somehow referencing Houston personally with everything that he says. If he calls SA a good team, I dont think he secretly means that Houston is a horrible organization with no future. I If he says Tim Duncan is a great big man, it doesnt mean that Yao Ming is a failure and the reason that JVG is no longer coach. What it means is SA is a good team, and Tim Duncan is a great big man.
Why hasn't someone posted: "Wrong forum?" JVG will be discussed here for awhile, just as Rudy will always be, but I still do like JVG as a broadcaster much better than I do as a coach.
He said that all season long. We have to make, and we have to defend. If there was anything you could count on him to say in a postgame interview, that was it. Yao Ming Tracy McGrady Rafer Alston Juwon Howard Luther Head Kirk Snyder Most of the rotation guys are known more for offense than defense. Should he not have played Shane Battier, who hit 40+% from downtown? Should he not have played Hayes? I'm sure you have some kind of point, but I don't see what it is.
Man, think of the forum if the Rockets have a worse season under Adelman. There'll be so much crow served, and all this childishness will be exposed for what it is.
There might be some truth to this. I think VG was a great coach, but some of the personell (Rafer-James, Charlie Ward) and playing time decisions (No Bonzi, overplaying Alston) have been poor.
