I just saw on both Channel 11 (CBS) & 13 (ABC), Houston's local TV sports saying that things are going very well in China with Yao Ming's representatives.

1- Carroll Dawson was interviewed by phone real quick and one of the clips said Rudy T was being noticed by alot of the Chinese NBA fans because the Rockets get coverage over there and he is kind of a semi-star.

2- The Rockets lawyer had a productive 2-hour meeting with the Shanghai Sharks representatives.

3- The Rockets arrived there late last night and overall nothing but good news to report so far.

*I think another future meeting to be conducted sometime tomorrow was mentioned in passing. Sports Sunday should have some good info in the next few minutes so I will try to relay what I hear if there is anything new!

Thanks ron. You're helping out people like me who live outside of Houston a lot.

Channel 2 just talked to Nelson Ruiz (media guy) who said nothing new on the contract fronts but it was a pleasant exchange and a good start.

no problem........I just got done watching the local NBC affiliate and they just confirmed everything the other 2 Houston TV stations had reported concerning the trip to China.

1- They showed clips of the Rockets management with their luggage, walking to the counter at one of the airport's in Houston and getting ready to leave. Rudy looked really anxious or nervous? One of the two.

2- They said they had just spoken to Carroll Dawson. They re-worded the 2-hour encounter between the Rockets lawyer and the Shanghai Sharks as "a pleasant meeting to lay the groundwork for future negotiations".

Good News on the eastern front.

It might be a bit optimistic, but I feel confident they will have a great and productive trip. The chinese can be tough to deal with as businessman but they are generally gracious hosts. And my experience is they generally like Americans. Although the first trip can sometimes be intimidating. I remember my first trip a landed in Beijing and as I was passing through customs and I so a sign that said "WELCOME TO CHINA". And then under that it said "ALL DRUG TRAFFICKERS WILL BE EXECUTED".

The one thing that peaks my curiousity is how did they get their visa's so fast. It's not enough to have a passport. You must have a visa to enter the Republic of China. I once had a rush trip to china and I had to show that I had purchased tickets and that I was being sponsored by a chinese company that I was doing business with and it still took me 3 weeks to get my visa.

You think Rudy and CD planned for this a long time ago?

in episode I, Qui Gonn said in the opening scenes that the "negotiations will be short." but then he sensed an unusual amount of tension over something as insignficant as that trade blockade. and then the bad guys tried to kill the jedis, with NO negotiation. And Obi-Wan jokingly said, "you were right about one thing, master...the negotiations were short!."

can we extrapolate from star wars to the current situation in China??

or is it just 2:47 AM and I can't sleep because I have a ridiculously painful sunburn and a stressful upcoming week?? hmmmmmmm...."always cloudy the dark side is."

Did anyone notice the first names of Yao's parents add up to make the whole name of the Sharks owner? Yao is totally owned. :D

Think about it this way, could they be any more difficult to deal with than Falk?

    I didn't think so.

    I have no worries.

    Bring Ming.
