Seriously, almost all of the local stations and news drive me absoultely insane. I'm not talking the quality of their coverage, no, I just mean all the little trimmings. I just saw this insanely r****ded montage on channel 2 with an original song with lyrics like "We're channel two, we cover local news for you" and it was just so horrible I couldn't stand it.

Oh! And channel 13's Houston Texans song makes me want to rip my ears off. "Houston TEXANS! Houston TEXANS! Houston TEXANS!" AHHHH!

And there are a dozen other things, but hey, why not give others a chance to chime in on theirs.

Would somebody please hit Sam Malone over the head with the Golden Corral skillet? If I hear "SEE YS" one more time I think I'll barf. It was funny the first few times...but now it's just annoying.

I don't care for the "in your face" graphics and oversized anchor heads along with the hyped-up drama of channel 2 NBC KPRC. Although their technology and graphics are way ahead of the other two corporate affiliates, they should consider just using their powers for good, instead of evil...

    CH. 2 = evil

    Sorry about that. :)
I can't stand that Channel 51, while giving a great postgame show and the Astros games, can't seem to broadcast it worth a flip. The picture is always grainy, blurry and generally crappy in various other ways. All of this on digital cable as well.

did someone say radio? I'm glad to say that the only radio I listen to is

    610 Sports
    90.1 KPFT-Pacifica
    88.7 KUHF

otherwise, no top 40, buzz stations, country, soft hits, classic rock or other commercial radio for me...

610 is the oasis of sanity in an otherwise crappy local radio spread.

    Another one of mine:

I hate channel 2 and their desire to be on screen as much as possible. I swear, they'll interrupt the season finale of your favorite TV show to let you know that a cat got stuck in a tree. And they'll stay there, FOREVER.

    (show on NBC)
    And the murderer was...

And now we go to Channel 2 News...
Hi this is Linda Lorelle...we go to Bill Balleza who is on the scene of where Apollo Creed has passed gas....Bill?

Bill: That's right Linda...he passed gas...I'm trying to talk to his neighbors to get their reaction. Hopefully we'll have more at 10.

Linda: Now we go to Channel 2 legal consultant Richard Alderman for his analysis of the legal issues which may be involved due to the gassy nature of this event.

    And on...and on...and on...

I'm glad news and radio here in Orlando isn't that bad. One station puts the anchors too close to each other and uses their graphics for the worst/most annoying things, but it's not all that bad.

The only time it really gets annoying is when there's a hurricane or tropical storm somewhere out there, for which they'll talk about it all during the news, even if it's 3,000 miles away. If it's even closer, then they consider breaking in to programs with the latest updates, even if they are hours old. Don't get me started on the 24hr live feeds!

As for Tallahassee....one station is far superior to the other, but it doesn't really matter. It's sad when your NBC affiliate doesn't even have a news program and only one station even bothers with noon news. 10pm news? Almost non-existant!

But, I did get a good laugh out of that little dialogue by Refman. They *almost* stooped to that level here when a bridge caught fire last Sunday, but they let the programs continue anyway.

You guys in houston shouldn't complain about radio stations.

Its MUCH worst in Austin, in fact its so bad that I find it refreshing to have such a variety of choices whenever I visit Houston...

    we got:

"The new KISS 96.7, 96.7, 96.7" (If Tony Fly says this one more time, I will gouge HIS eyes out!)... playing the same 7 hits in a repeated loop all day long... I can only take so much Ashanti and Jennifer Lopez before I go berzerk people!

Beat 104.3... hip hop station! after growing up with 97.9 in Houston, this nauseating station plays the same candy hip pop crap all day long... the hardest core stuff they play is P. Diddy! Yuck!

101.5X... alternative station... too bad I don't know any of these songs. i miss the 94.5 alternative of the 1990s in Houston... i feel like i have to do homework to listen to 101X and study the songs and artists, b/c to me they're just way too obscure!

94.7... decent station. they play a mix of everything except hip-hop/rap... mostly slower jams, alternative songs, and 80s music. I can live with this... the fact that this may be the best station in Austin is it.

then we got one 80s station, one soft rock station, tons of country and spanish stations, and a community based rap station that plays rap sometimes... that's it!

i miss all the choiced around the dial in Houston!

(don't get me started on our sports radio with the worst afternoon drivetime show in history!)

Channel 2 is okay. I've been to their studio. It's nice, and the people are friendly. I stood next to Craig Robert's desk. Now that he is no longer at NBC 2, it kinda makes me cherish that moment more. Channel 2 is nothing but aliterations. I don't know if i spelled that right, but fantastic floods. Rocket Ride. They try to be clever and cute with their puns, such as News 2 Houston. I like Pauline Choiu. What happen to her, did she move on to a bigger and better market?
CHannel 13 ABC is a whole bunch of old guys. You can sort of see them try to get younger.
I don't watch CBS for some reason. I have nothing against 11, but the sports guys are blah. So damn boring.
Fox is okay. The sports on fox is great in fact. I've been to their studio too, and it is fantastic.
CHannel 8 pbs has some decent tv shows. American High was originally a Fox show, but they dropped it. They dropped the ball infact. American Pioneers was a good show too. I think that is the name. That show was good.
What is that hispanic channel? It is on time warner channel 3. I swear a p*rn is getting ready to break out on that channel.

    Radio Stations.
    Mostly owned by clear channel.
KTBZ the buzz, 94.5. It's okay. I hate crap like drowning pool, and nickelback and saliva. Bands with THE in front of their name, i kinda of like them. But i just dont think they are buzz radio.
104 is uh, well, it is 104
    i like 96.5 good MIX
97.9 just talks too damn much.

I remember when 97.1 was new. we were listening to it on the bus on a field trip. they kept playing ludacris' fantasy over and over. we heard that song like four times the entire day.

    Thank goodness for talk radio.
THe only talk i listen to is 610 KILT, infinity broadcasting.
I wish we had two sports talk shows.
Maybe clearchannel can switch format on one of their am dials like star 790, and get some kind of competition going.

94.5 The Buzz is by far the best station in Houston. Most of the songs they play arent played on any other station. I've come to the conclusion that The Buzz is the only station that experiments with anything new in Rock. KLOL and 104 will play a song 3 months later after it has already became popular on The Buzz.

Man if you're missing 97.9, that's pretty sad. Of the 3 hip-hop stations here, you can pick any one and they are playing Ashanti, Ja Rule or Puffy at any time of the day.

I like listening to 91.7 which is Rice's college radio. If you're into mainstream pop stuff or like listening to members of the Clear Channel conglomerate then don't bother. They do play a very wide variety of music, so that means some of it is really strange and some of it I don't like at all. However, you get to hear stuff that you'd never hear elsewhere, plus there aren't commercials.

About local TV, I completely agree. Not just NBC, but all three main stations will cut through anything to show anything. National news, prime-time shows, even the freaking NCAA tournament to show a warehouse on fire or a thunderstorm moving in. I called in to complain to CBS when they cut off the NCAA tourney for something dumb, and they said they got complaints, but they didn't stop anyways. They cut it off to show some analysis after the Andrea Yates case. Who freaking cares???

They think their local coverage should preempt every FREAKING thing and that people like them for it.

in chicago i only listen to two radio stations-Q101 which is 101.1 and 94.7 the Zone. both alternative.

of course, if you miss crap ashanti/ja rule 'music' you can always turn it to 96.3 or 103.5.

our local tv stations are like this on the news: "A horrible murder was commited today by a 12 year old boy. More news on that later. Also, a mom and her two kids were shot today."

nothing, nothing good, nothing you want to hear about, just NOTHING. its crap.

Oh, I like it when they're all:

"Houston Parents: Your children might DIE!!!! Find out why at 10 on the nightbeat."

And then the story is something r****ded like how children who play out in the middle of the street get hit by cars.
