Metal guitar virtuoso, Yngwie Malmsteen, performed a two hour set last night at the House of Blues. He pulled out all his tricks, trademark high kicks, half splits, slinging the guitar behind his back, tossing it in the air, playing behind his head and with his teeth, he put on a good set for the several hundred die-hard fans who came out to the show. The Houston Press has a full review of the show (not my photos) and I have some photos posted on SoundSpike. I also have a few on my Flickr. I was going to post something about seeing Yngwie way back in 1986 at Astroworld when he opened for AC/DC. I was trying to find the exact date. I did a Yahoo! search...and found a thread back in 2003 for ClutchFans except the thread was about AC/DC and I posted in it about it...except I said it was "Back in Black" tour which couldn't be right cause that was in 1981. It must have been the "Flick of the Switch" tour instead. I recall Yngwie doing his usual. He could really play the hell out of those arpeggios. I think he played EVH's "Eruption" behind his back in that show. lol
I used to think this song was the jam back when I was 10. <iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Dp2jNhZWxBM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Who am I kidding? It's on my iPod today.
