is amazing, per usual when it comes to live Dave Matthews Band album. I was really pumped about hearing "The Last Stop" since I haven't heard that one live all that often. Great, duh! Vengeance, have you got a copy of the San Antonio show yet?
That Live from Chicago recording is a pretty solid one. It wouldn't have been my pick for a live album, but the record companies couldn't have done much better, as there are lots of radio songs on this one, and the jams are not TOO long. All in all it was an amazing concert though -- it was broadcast over the internet, and we had a chat going on rollingstone.com while listening/watching -- the big surprise and cool song of that night was "The Maker". It's pretty rare to see that in concert, and it's such a kickass song -- we were all trying to figure out what it was, and then all the sudden the whole chatroom exploded with "HOLY S#!T!!! . . . MAKER!!!!" Personally, I've been totally blown away (again) by my 9/19/00 recording -- THE BEST concert I have, bar none . . . that 22 minute Two step jam with the Flecktones is just awesome. I'll pick up the Chicago release soon though. I don't have the SA show yet, or the Dallas show for that matter -- it's been REALLY hard to track those down. But I'll try and do it again tonight.
Did you guys notice how quiet Boyd solos seemed to be? I think it was LIOG or WWYS where I could barely hear him at all. Maybe it's my speakers, but I wonder if it was mixed that way. All in all, a solid release, esp. #41, LIOG, and the Maker. Victor and Tim just rock. I was never that big a fan of Last Stop on the album, but I love the outro. Does anyone know where I can find the 6/9/01 show at RFK?
The outro to "Last Stop" is what makes that recording one of my favs all-time already. That, along with "Pig" (which I've never, ever, ever, ever, ever heard live ), is my favorite song on BTCS. Also, like MadMax pointed out before, that song has a much more pointed meaning ever since the 9/11 tragedy.
