I posted about this a while ago (December I think), and not much response, but with all the newbies I figured I'd ask again.

Is anyone here into trading live concert recordings? I guess you'd call them bootlegs, but bootlegs tend to imply something illicit about them. Nah, what I'm talking about is straight-up recordings allowed by the band.

Particularly, I trade mostly Dave Matthews Band stuff, but I've got a few others here and there (Ben Harper, the Samples, Tori Amos).

My list is down right now (unfortunately), but it may come back up at this address soon. If not, I'll move it somewhere else and post that address.

Anyhow, I've got lots of Dave Matthews stuff, and I just got something Houstonians will be interested in (RM95?):

5/11/01 and 5/12/01 -- the two shows the band did at the Woodlands this year. If you were there, you should get these concerts.

Now, if you have nothing to trade, that doesn't mean you can't still get this stuff, you can do what's called a "B+P". B+P stands for Blank and Postage, in which you send as many blanks as are needed in a self-addressed, stamped bubble envelope to me, then I make the copies and drop them in the mail. An excellent walkthrough with pictures can be found here.

If you're interested, let me know.

I've traded a sh!tload of live Phish/Dead/SCI/MMW recordings over the 'net. I much prefer it to snail mail trading.

Most of the shows I download are in SHN format, a lossless compression scheme that reduces the file sizes by about 50%. So, a 70 minute CD is about 350MB.

Yeah, I know lots of people who trade shns, but I'm just not into it. I like doing the old-style trading with the mail and all that. But finding free shns, now that's the way to go! Free concerts to burn to CD and trade.
