Got it this weekend and I'm not too fond of it already. Is it just me or are the players too big for the court. It is similar to NBA JAM (which I liked especially on arcade) but that did not market itself as a NBA sim game at all. Offense is way too easy and defense too hard. It too easy to score inside and an entire game can be played without having to take a jumper. Shot blocking is terrible, player control is also bad(passing the ball, I miss the direct passing), rebounding is worse than previous Live versions and COURT VISION IS NON-EXISTANT The players look great but I feel the better graphics definatly come at the expense of the gameplay. As for all NBA 2K3ers I've been with EA sports for too long now to cahnge so please don't mention it.
Do you have stock in EA or something? I don't understand why you wouldn't consider switching to a game that is by almost all accounts better than NBA Live...especially if what you're after is gameplay and more realism.
I was the same when 2K came out on Dreamcast and believe me, I was wrong about the series. If you havent tried that game, you have not completed your life.
Thanks guys, the gameplay in LIVE is really bad, I've got enough bad games that I should be able to trade those along with LIVE and not have to spend much on 2k3. One thing for sure 2k3 can't be any worse.
SSG, you should still rent 2k3 first, just to make sure you aren't blowing more $$ on something you don't want. 2k is the more realistic and fun game tho, imo. The only bball game I would even consider buying at this point(wouldn't mind renting Live, but probly wouldn't buy it).
I simmed one season in franchise mode and it's the best I've seen as far as bball goes now I don't know about pc versions but as far as consoles go it's the first one with a rookie draft I think. It has free agency, player retirement, a rookie draft and prolly some other stuff I'm forgetting. The franchise part looks good but the gameplay is lacking, it looks like ten giants on a preschool court.
Live seemed pretty ok to me when I rented it, especially better than 2002, but I liked NBA2K3 more. You can't trade draft picks in 2003, can you? I think I checked when I rented it, but I'm not sure. BTW, if you are curious about 2K3, it has trading draft picks, rookie scouting, rookie drafting, retiring players, negotiating contracts both new and extensions, and some other goodies. Though like mentioned above, I'd rent it before buying it to make sure you like it.
