liu xiang is an olympic hopeful that set many records and is the first non-african decent to win many gold medal. "I want to prove to all the world that Asians can run very fast." he wanted to break the stereo type about Asians not running very fast. He is also icon for china along side Yao and many people look up to him. this year he is trying to win another gold. What about you guys? think he can win another gold?

We need to swap this with the underage Chinese gymnast thread in Hangout which probably belongs in D & D.

Liu Xiang is the favorite but his recent performances have been lackluster and its not clear if he is injured or fully recovered from injury. I don't follow track that much but I think he has a shot at repeating at Gold but its far from guarenteed. I know a lot of pressure is riding on him so I hope he doesn't crack under.

I will go out on a limb and say -- Liu is not capable of winning the gold in this Olympics.

This really sucks, I definitely feel bad for him. He was by far the best 2 years a go at the World Games. I can't imagine it must feel like for him right now.

Well, since it's still in D&D, should we try to take this in the "Chinese athletes and foot injuries" direction? That might get several pages of replies...

by the way, that is a (not very good) joke.

Karma must be flawed then, because last I checked China's 39 golds didn't nesscesarily need Liu.

Uh....tell that to the 91,000 people at the Bird's Nest - quite frankly they are reaping the sown field of broken dreams - 'tis a bumper crop.

The karma from the Natives, slaves, Project MKULTRA and the Monroe Doctrine have struck too in the form of Tyson Gay sucking it to the maxxxxxxx and the American team being 17 gold medals behind China.

wat wat? can two play the nonsensical baiting game?

LOL - nobody here believes that crap- the Indian Burial Ground spirit was used up in Poltergeist, the remains in Amityville horror.

The fact is, China's huge population uses up karma like it does oil, metals and other commodities. There are graphs, I can show them, but I won't. Xiangian triumphalism has had some chickens come home to roost. And not General Tso's brand either. :(

This is the point where I say "DARK SHADOW"

but it's not a dark shadow - it's a gravity intensive neutron star.

Lets not forget Terrance Trammel also pulled up during the heats so maybe 110 m hurdles is where Karma is exacting its due on the PRC and the USA.

who cares, Liu isn't the only athlete in China. not the first, won't be the last. just rest up get well, there is next time with less pressure. i feel sorry for the kid when everyone put these pressure on him. some folks need to lighten up in China.
