I saw this coming when I bought the basketball goal but now I have kids coming over everytime they hear me bounce the ball, they want me to lower the goal for them when they play and knock on my door every week asking if I can come out and play. I'm a 30 year old man and these are 8 - 12 year old kids.

last week there was 12 of them sitting on my driveway and lawn playing without my permission. I told them they can't play on my goal ever without asking me first so now they are coming by and asking but even that is annoying.

Also, I just dont feel right with kids coming over and playing all the time. Should I be talking to these childrens parents about this to at least let them know they are over? I just don't want something happening while they are here and being liable.

Raise the goal. Claim that its "stuck" at 12ft, and apologize. Kids can't shoot that high, and if they can they'll miss enough to eventually stop trying and go find a lower goal.

    Problem solved.

Damn man, that sucks. I don't mind playing with kids every now and then, but if they're coming over EVERY TIME you just wanna shoot around, that's annoying as hell. Also, not to mention, playing with kids that young is just flat-out boring. I think the suggestion of telling them it's stuck is probably the path of least resistance, but you're still running a risk of them wanting to play on it 24/7.

Just keep dunking on those midgets like, super hard until they're too humiliated to show their faces in your hood.

Dude. You need to read past that and continue:
was there, too. He says "he doesn't feel right" at the beginning of the last paragraph. Give him a break. ;)

Have the kid's parents sign a waiver if the kids get hurt while playing in your yard. Call the parents to verify.

    That should limit some kids.

limit play to certain days and certain times.

like when you are least bothered or when you are not home.
3-5 weekdays, and 12-5 weekends, etc...

Trust me, more than anything this is my concern. I beat one of these kids too bad on a 1 on 1 game and piss them off, who knows what they will run and tell their parents.

I want to just put a stop to it, i dont mind every now and then, like once every 3 months but not every freakin week.

Liability is the main issue. If one of those youngsters breaks an ankle on your property, expect to be sued.

After all, it's the american way.

I got kicked out of several courts when I was a kid. If you keep telling them no they will stop coming.

Kids don't understand anything. They are too young, their brains are barely developed.

I had a similar problem. When I did my landscape I put some stairs that leads from the front door to the side walk. Well before i knew it i had these 8-12 year old skateboard kids jumping off my stairs. I was concerned
    a) They might damage my property and
    b) That is definitely dangerous and I didnt want to be liable if they got injured.

I was hesitant to be too mean and tell them to get the f off my property since they will probably just come and TP or vandalize something if I did. Fortunately for me my other neighbor knew some of the kids parents and had a talk with them. The problem eventually faded away.

    Good luck!
