Doc Rocket and I said that a deal was going to be done. A deal is going to be done. When I said that this was not the original trade that was posted, that's what I meant. I never said a trade was going to happen. I said a deal was in place. What kind of deal? Patience! Patience! I know for a fact that Doc Rocket knows what's goin' down, however, he has not told me specifically - it's been implied. That's all I'll say on this until mid-week. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
Rockets extend Dreams contract at 20 mil per year for 3 more years....and then I woke up. he he. You said it wasn't neccesarily a trade. ------------------
Oh wonderful... I just defended you in another thread and you throw the "mid-week" thing on me... lol. This is starting to hurt. ------------------ "I personally don't think Jordan would have enjoyed playing with himself." -- JeffB lets us all know that Popeye and Clutch aren't the only ones with inside sources... /pulls hair from head in big clumps!!! big trade, no trade little trade, next week this week, mid-week...AAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!! Patience!!!!!! aAAAAAAARRRRGGHHH!!!!! /runs screaming from the room! ------------------ no sig here [This message has been edited by Rockets2K (edited January 14, 2001).]

questions, questions, questions... OK, I'm usually pretty patient on this type stuff, although I love playing fantasy coach trading players, but even I'm getting frustrated... So, the leak from the Arizona story is that Dream will take a contract at 1/3 what he's getting paid now? At this stage of the season, what else is a deal besides a trade, other than a renegotiated contract? Since we are over the cap, we have to be within 15% of any salary that comes our way, so a deal with Chicago wouldn't be able to include players, such as Othella, since that would make it a trade. Maybe a deal includes renegotiating on draft pick terms, so Chicago can trade for SAR/Reeves and use the #1 pick that we are holding up. But that wouldn't make any of us hold onto our seats ... What would make us hold onto our seats and take us on a ride? Is this misinformation, Clutch, so we don't mess up a trade that is in the works? ------------------ the more I know, the more I know I don't know...
Sherlock, You might have hit on it. If it's not a trade, then it has to be a deal involving draft picks. Chicago needs us to alter the terms of the Drew compensation, so they can trade picks. We owe Vancouver a #1 pick. Maybe, by renegotiating their obligation to us, we'll receive the #1 pick owed to Vancouver back & another pick from Chicago for our trouble. Maybe a second round pick this year, which for all practical purposes, should be the first pick of the second round. hmmm I'd rather they made another blockbuster trade. It's just fun. ------------------
I assumed that "a deal is going to go down" meant a trade. I definately did not think that deal implied something other than a trade. Whatever it is, I'm still eager & cant wait till mid week. ------------------ When 1 door closes another 1 open; but we so often look so long & so regretfully on da closed door, that we dont see the ones that be opening for us - alaskanSnowman
I wonder if this means that Dream's frustrations are a separate issue? ------------------ We're going to stay together until something happens, if something happens. - Sidney Lowe on Shareef's career in Vancouver.
Newguy jumped ship on the trade a little too soon. I never expected to see a trade to go down so soon. NO trades ever go down around this time of the year. They usually occur around all star time, so that is when things should heat up. Patience people. ------------------
At least it is exciting. Clutch, Thx for the insight. DaDakota ------------------ If Mankind evolved from monkeys and apes, then why are there still monkeys and apes?
Since I'm bored... and the hot water heater is running (just got back from riding and *yech* I stink), I'll keep at this thread. Sorry Clutch if our persistence is annoying. Now 'who' could be a team or a player... but if it were a player does that necessitate a trade? If one team sends a player to a second team for future considerations is that a 'trade' per se? I suppose so... but it sure beats thinking that there's some reconstruction of some old deal. ------------------ We're going to stay together until something happens, if something happens. - Sidney Lowe on Shareef's career in Vancouver.
Wow, I say something that misleads people in my thread, and Clutch gives me ****. This thread clearly proves Clutch mislead everyone into believing it was a trade, or is misleading them in this thread by implying it's not a trade. His quotes from the 300 post thread are very strong and misleading, but when I have a title that is accidently a little insulting, the entire BBS gets mad. However, Clutch, I would like to bury the hatchet, I tried after the DaFranchise thing, and I will ask again. I don't want to get in a stupid fight again ------------------ [This message has been edited by NewGuy (edited January 14, 2001).]
If it's not a trade then it can be: 1) renegotiate Dream's contract 2) extend Shan's contract 3) extend Mo's contract 4) extend both 5) we're getting a top 3 pick "brace yourself" explanation for 1: Not everyone is content with Dream playing after this season. explanation for 2: Mo will get paid more than anyone wants him to get paid. explanation for 3: Shan will get overpaid. explanation for 4: Both will get overpaid. explanation for 5: The pick could be Yao Ming, Loren Woods, Griffin, Troy Murphy, Whang ZhiZhi, Shane Battier, Eddie Curry..... If we get a top 3 pick, we should pick the best player at that spot, trade the pick with Walt for an excellent SF.... I say it's most probably 5...... ------------------
You just haven't decided which yet, right? LOL! ------------------ "I personally don't think Jordan would have enjoyed playing with himself." -- JeffB lets us all know that Popeye and Clutch aren't the only ones with inside sources... (also an example of a BBS "sound-bite")
It's one or the other, we won't know which until this "deal" goes down. LOL? What's your point? Read what I said ------------------
I read it again. It remained pointless. What's your point? How about you wait until the end of the season and see if a trade happens? Like Sane just said, a "deal" can be a number of things. He never said any specific deal would go down, he never mentioned any players, he never said "hey guys, come Tuesday, we'll have a new SF". I'm just not sure what your fascination with this whole "misleading" thing is. I don't think I've been misled, but oh well, that's just me. ------------------ "I personally don't think Jordan would have enjoyed playing with himself." -- JeffB lets us all know that Popeye and Clutch aren't the only ones with inside sources... NewGuy: Please shut up. How often has Clutch gone out and said something about a trade, a free agent move or anything else without it happening? Name one. Look, everyone knows that I know people with the Rockets because of my dealings with SOR - one still owes me dinner and I hope she is reading this . I still talk to them off an on for various reasons and I can tell you for a fact that Clutch is NOT making this up. This is completely and totally legitimate. No if's, and's or but's. After hearing this originally, I spoke to a few people I know and, while they didn't confirm anything, they gave me information that confirmed something was going on. I'm not even sure what IT is to be totally honest but I know it isn't bull****. Now, who the hell knows if anything will happen? It is impossible to predict anything because these situations are complex and delicate. I'm certain there have been plenty of near-trades, free agent signings, in-house issues, etc. in the Rockets past that never made the news or reached any of us. Oh, if only we could be a fly on the wall of Carroll Dawson or Rudy T's office! All I can say is that Clutch would never mention anything if he wasn't certain something was going on and a real possibility. No one can know anything is certain, but Clutch is concerned about his rep and wouldn't jeopardize that with heresay. End of story. ------------------ I am very very sleepy.
Thank you Jeff, but NewGuy is no longer with us. I never should have let him back in the first place. One correction: I have been wrong before, but I would never intentionally mislead anyone here. Never. What a prick. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
Dang Clutch, he was more entertaining than the actual deal speculation talk. Oh well, back to my magazine. ------------------ Behad Sergeant at Arms of the Clutch BBS
