So, who's gonna be watching Jason Alexander's new show, Listen Up, tonight? If you haven't already heard, the show is based on the life of Tony Kornheiser. I hope it's good and that people won't tune in looking for George Costanza.
Wow, didn't know that's what it was about. Monday nights on CBS have been cool, but there's always been a hole between Still Standing and Raymond. Thankfully now that's taken care of, and I can watch for two full hours. 4 season premieres in a row tonight on CBS- pretty impressive. Still Standing rules.
Too bad. He had a show planned with Larry David, co-creator of Seinfeld, where he was going to play an actor who can't shed his old character from a previous hit-sitcom.
Yeah, I have high hopes for him, but some of the early reviews weren't too kind. He's such a phenomenal stage actor which translated well to an exuberant character like George. The knock he gets is that he can't tone it down for TV (non-George characters). I don't happen to agree with that but then again I am biased.
I heard some woman reviewer, who was a guest on a radio show, say today to avoid this one like the plague. I dunno if she had a bug up her butt or what but she was pretty volatile when the show was mentioned.
I'm a huge fan of Kornheiser. Loved his radio show. I'd definitely check it out... if it wasn't for the fact, that I don't actually have a TV set.
Its not bad so far... I've actually laughed (of course, if it wasn't based on TK, i'm not sure if I'd be seeing it as funny... i'm biased as a TK fan). Of course, its no Arrested Development... whcih WON THE EMMY LAST NIGHT. That's amazing, considering nobody's watching the show... but then again, the Ben Stiller show won an emmy and it was cancelled the next year. EDIT: the "soccer" song was pretty funny (yet random... it would have never ran on PTI)... and it utilized Jason Alexander's best talents.
It seems like Costanza with a family to me. I thought it was okay but I didn't really laugh much. It may need some time to establish itself. Unfortunately, networks don't appear to have the patience to build shows up these days. A lot of these shows almost have to be instant hits to make it. Let's see how it does next week... .
That would be I. The show was much better than his last one. I'm not sure about the actress who plays the wife but the other characters were all pretty good.
WOW...CBS doesnt look too good right now....I love PTI and George, but this show was BAD...2 out of 3 isnt bad!!!
I found myself laughing numerous times during the show. There were places where it was a little over the top and the woman who plays his wife is a little...eh. Just kinda wishy washy. My only thinking is that they may have a hard time dealing with the range of story lines. I mean, they have to incorporate Jamal Warner in there, but his character seemed more like an afterthought. The daughter and son were funny. I did like his character, though. Had a lot of "George" moments and seems to play to Alexander's strengths and energy level. I'll keep watching it.
I liked it...There's definite potential. "It seems like Costanza with a family to me. " Definitely. I mean, hiding behind a rock at his daughter's soccer game? Definitely George.
Man, he really needs to get back w/ Jerry, Elaine, and Kramer and produce a reunion. These new gigs he's trying out sucks.
