Alston: Still our best option at pg. He is a good ball handler and decent passer. Not a good defender, but did get a lot of steals that will lead to fast breaks. Had to play a role as third scoring option, because Battier was too reticient to shoot. Will be more effective at 20/25 mpg. I do think he is trade bait though.

James: Energy and scoring off the bench. Backup point and shooting guard. Best defensive pg we have. Will be a good option to guard points and play shooting guard with t-mac running the point on offense. Should play around 15/20 mpg. Need more of his cockiness on the team.

Francis: I wasn't in favor of this signing, but am warming up to it after the press conferences. Could be a scoring option off the bench when we need a creator. Poor defender, but can grab rebounds and get to the rim. If he plays under control and settles with being a role player it will work out.

Brooks: A true point guard. If we trade Rafer, he'd better be ready, because James and Francis require the ball too much to be effective starters at point. Can he play defense? If we hang on to Rafer he probably won't see the court much.

Snyder: Very underated. Great speed/slasher. I think he will fit great in the new system. Has the potential to be a defensive stopper and has the same tenacious attitude as James. Gets a lot of garbage rebounds. JVG tried to make all our guards into spot up shooters whether they were or not. I don't think Adelman will do the same.

Head: Good shooter and would be very good offensively in Adelmans offense, but we don't have room for him. Defense is terrible and he is not physical enough to be effective at sg. I would rather have Snyder and trade Head.

Wells: Only Bonzi knows. I don't really see how he fits on this team, but maybe Adelman can figure out how to put him in the rotation. If he comes in fat again we should trade him for a second rounder or dump him immediately.
Where will the minutes come from now that you have James and Francis?

Battier: Good, but overated defender. Good shooter, but passed up open looks to often. I would love to see him as a 20 mpg role player primarily to guard small pfs or sfs. It would be ideal to get Barnes, move Tracy to SF and bring Battier off the bench.

T-Mac: Please be patient and go to the rim more. Points should go down and assists up. Needs to stop throwing up wild threes at the most inopportune times. Great defender, passer, rebounder and scorer. With all the depth on this team, he should have his best all around year.

Yao: Perfect for Adelman's offense. I've been wanting him to take that soft jumper from the elbow ever sent he got here. He will score and pass from everywhere. MVP candidate if stays healthy. Better perimeter defense will keep him out of foul trouble and Adelman's offense will keep him better refreshed since he won't have to take the pounding every time down the floor.

Deke: Still useful to spell Yao against big teams, if Butler doesn't work out.

Butler: Haven't seen enough to know. Would hope he was sleeper in the trade and can back up PF and C, but probably is going to NBDL.

Novac: Second round experiment that didn't work out. Trade or NBDL or cut.

Hayes: Horrible offense. Overrated defense. Like his hustle and might be ok off the bench to provide energy and fouls, but if we trade Alston for another veteran PF he is probably gone or third string.

Scola: Never seen him play, but I'm praying he's the at least half our PF answer. I hope a trade brings a legitimate veteren PF like Haslem as insurance.

    Reed: Gone
JLIII: Gone. Never understood why they gave him guaranteed contract
    Landry: NBDL
    Harris: NBDL
    Sura: trade

My ideal move to get the roster down: Head, Sura + 1st Rounder for legit PF or Alston + fillers for Haslem + fillers.

Okay, haters. Time to flame away.

I had lunch with Adelman and this was what he said:

Adelman: " I stopped reading the "assessment" after the very first line."

Coach, if you like your job, you better play Brooks to develop him. We do not care that you more experienced point guards. Look how we got Van Gundy fired for not playing VSpan.

 U r kidding right!? Mike James used to stay 4 feet in front of the players he's guarding and get lost in the first step. James is the worst defensive guard in the Rockets.

Please check out the players' defensive ratings before u made such funny statement. Rafer Alston > Steve Francis > Mike James in any defensive ratings.

Coach, can you do us all a favor and grow your awesome Papa Smurf beard back out? You look much more like a dignified leader that way.

It'll be great, come christmas time, you can also dress up like Santa Claus and have young supple children sit on your lap. Who could pass that opportunity up?

here's MY predictions for next yr (just for the top 8 players who i think will contribute)

    1) tracy mcgrady - fg% will go up as he plays more off the ball and finishes rather than triggers the offense. assists might go down as this is a more passing offense rather than one guy creating everything.
    stats for 07-08 - 27ppg, 6rpg, 5.5apg (2nd team all-nba)

    2) yao ming - could most likely be his best overall year. assists will go up b/c he'll be on the mid-post more and finding cutters. his ppg will prollie stay the same but the fg% will sky rocket to around 54-55%. hopefully his rebounding will be better and defense will improve. if those 2 things improve to another level, the team will go to another level
    stats for 07-08 - 25ppg, 11rpg, 3apg, 2bpg (1st team all-nba)

    3) battier - same play as last yr. only if he could dribble like christie and become a playmaker also.
    stats - 11ppg

    4) mike james - i think this guy will be phenomenal for us? why? dude can shoot w/ the best on tis team, can finish, can handle, has that swagger... the reason i put him above francis on impact is that he shoots much better than francis.
    stats - 13ppg, 3.5 apg

    5) francis - i still have to see how he plays w/ 2 other truly great players. even when he played high minutes with NY last yr, he still overdribbled and handled the ball way too much. i prefer him to just be a rafer alston that shoots much better (on 3s and that weak floater)
    stats - 11 ppg

    6) scola - i think he'll have a great impact starting after teh all-star game. i think he'll play around 20 mins in the first half then goes up to 30 mins in the 2nd half, splitting time w/ chuck hayes
    stats - 9ppg, 7rpg

never mind, this is too much ;)

but here is my lineup when yao is on the floor
    pg - francis/rafer
    sg - tmac
    sf - battier
    pf - scola
    c - yao

when yao is on the bench,
    pg - mike
    sg - tmac
    sf - battier
    pf - bonzi
    c - scola

    OR
    pg - francis
    sg - mike
    sf - tmac
    pf - battier
c - bonzi (golden state style)

I believe SF3 will do better than Rafer when he has to guard a strong PG like Baron Davis. Rafer just isn't strong enough.
