I am part of a head-to-head league over at Sandbox. Our league is made up of 10 GM's and I had the 9th pick in the draft. Starters: QB: Jeff Garcia (Round 1) RB: Warrick Dunn (Round 3) WR: Randy Moss (Round 2) TE: Frank Wycheck (Round 9) K: Joe Nedney (Round 14) O-Flex: Terrell Owens (Trade) O-Flex: Ed McCaffrey (Round 5) O-Flex: Tim Biakabatuka (Trade) D-Flex: Derrick Brooks (Round 4) D-Flex: Brian Urlacher (Round 7) D-Flex: Ray Buchanan (Round 13) Bench: QB: Jake Plummer (Waivers) QB: Michael Vick (Round 12) RB: Terry Allen (Waivers) RB: Tony Richardson (Waivers) RB: Kevan Barlow (Waivers) WR: James Thrash (Round 17) WR: Willie Jackson (Waivers) WR: Bill Schroeder (Waivers) LB: Dan Morgan (Trade) The trade I completed went as follows: I gave up: Joey Galloway (Round 6) Peter Warrick (Round 10) Jamal Anderson (Round 8) I acquired: Terrell Owens (Taken in Round 2) Tim Biakabatuka (Taken in Round 15) Dan Morgan (Taken from Waivers) I feel that my only weakness is at the RB position. Dunn is a good fantasy back with the potential to be a great one this season. Biakabatuka is oft-injured, but if he were to stay healthy could be a stud. Barlow has a good chance to be SF's main back if Hearst is released, gets hurt again, or falters. Allen has not looked good in the preseason, but that doesn't necessarily translate into the same type of performance in the regular season. At worst, Allen will split time with Brookins. I read somewhere that Richardson will get most of KC's goal-line carries, and thus, will get his share of TDs. Richardson is mainly insurance for my other RB's.
my roster, i picked 3rd qb-donovan mcnabb rb-edgerrin james wr-cris carter te-freddie jones off flex-emmitt smith,muhsin muhammad,joe horn k-jason elam def flex-keith mitchell,jason gildon,brian dawkins bench qb-aaron brooks rb-shaun alexander,thomas jones wr-marcus robinson,germane crowell,darnay scott te-bubba franks def-brian walker(mia), mike peterson *-i also had drafted jamal lewis
If you look at the trade based on potential, then I was on the losing end of the deal. I didn't look at it that way. Before the trade, I had Jamal Anderson, McCaffrey, and Galloway at my offensive flex positions. Galloway was a huge question mark, but I drafted him in the sixth round based solely on his potential to have a big year this season. And that was also before the Cowboys cut Banks. Everything that I have read is assuming that Jamal Anderson is going to break back onto the scene again this season, but once again it isn't a sure thing. As a matter of fact, Atlanta's O-line is awful and that surely doesn't bode well for Jamal. Warrick is a burner and is able to score TDs so many different ways. He had good numbers last season considering that he was a rookie. The QB situation in Cincy really downgraded Warrick in my opinion. Kitna doesn't have a strong arm and Warrick is the type to go deep. Akili Smith is just plain frightening when behind cener. Mitchell is not dependable as a passer either. With Schroeder, Jackson, and Thrash also on my roster I felt that I was fine at that position. Terrell Owens is a sure thing. He will gain tons of yardage and pile up the TDs. He has developed a rapport with Garcia in SF. I liked the idea of having this combo together on my roster. Biakabatuka is the wild card. If he can stay healthy (and that's a big IF), he can be a good if not great fantasy back. Good enough at least to make my starting lineup solid if not spectacular. Morgan was basically a throw-in to make the #'s match although I think he has Urlacher potential. The guy is just awesome. Anyway, that is how I viewed the trade, and thus the reason I pulled the trigger.
