I'm having a hard time coming up with teams that would want to get T.J. Ford, unless they are sending out a worse contract.

Possibly the Knicks? Especially if D'Antoni lands there.
Possibly the Bulls? If D'Antoni lands there.

But what could they realistically trade?

Does anybody else get the feeling that BC may have to dump T.J. for expirings just to get a deal for him or am I crazy?

The Rockets. He is better than Rafer. He has one of the highest PER's among point guards, so he might be a Morey type of guy.

I think Toronto will shop him. Calderon just stated he wants to start. The fans and media are clearly behind Calderon. I'm not sure where the team stands. Ford has a pretty big contract and is injury prone so it might not take much to get him. It all depends on what other teams bid, because I don't think they can afford to keep them both.

If no teams wants Ford, it means the raptors has to give up Calderon! I believe the rockets have a good chance to accquire Calderon. First of all, I believe Calderon will be happy to play for the rockets. Secondly, the rockets have the player who the raptors want. Finally, there is a tradition for the rockets to get the pgs from the raptors. ;)

The rockets won't. His salary is twice as Rafer's.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Clippers or Blazers made a run at Ford and things keep getting tougher out west. Heat also seem like a possibility if Riley thinks they can get back in the mix quickly. Those three teams were all trying to find PGs last offseason too.

*raptors & spanish bball legal issues over garbo

ATL: claxton + min contract filler
*claxton has less years on contract

    CAV: snow

He'd only be worth gambling on for expiring contracts - and I'm a huge T.J. Ford fan (Baytown represent!). There was talk he may have to retire after his last injury. One more big one and he may be done. Anyway, he's even more fragile than Yao and T-Mac so it hardly seems wise to depend upon him. Now, if we're thinking backup - sure. But then, he doesn't seem to want to be anybodies backup.

that's why i say say no to ford, and say yes to calderon (just a dream though).

realistically chris duhon can be had at mle. he'd be a good fit imo.

I can see the Cavs deal possibly. The others.......not realistic. Atlanta is already paying Bibby something like $15 million and they are trying to find dollars for the Josh's.

Denver? They gonna play midgets in the backcourt with T.J. and A.I. That would have to be the smallest backcourt in history. Don't see that working.

New York? Why would Toronto take on Jerome James again..........he has less value than Ford, way less, total dead weight, no value until his contract expiring.

TJ's BYC, so it will be hard for Toronto to move him. They may consider getting the most they can for Calderon and take their chances with Ford.

claxton makes around $2.3M less but he's just sitting there not contributing. at least ford will challenge for starter minutes. add acie law to the deal and it's pretty much swapping same money.

they traded for chucky atkins this season, so they get taller :D

james was previously with seattle prior to that a rookie year with the kings. in the long run raptors save $12.2M

It's only hard to move a player when they are BYC when you are trying to get equal value. When you are just trying to unload him for expiring contracts to get him off your roster, it's actually considerably easier.
