You know, it's one thing to be critical of Steve's play, and it's another thing to be a prick about it.

Who cares? Votings done and over. You can't change the fact that Steve and Yao are starters. Get over it. There a billion other threads talking about the same thing.

Fans vote for the most popular players, it doesn't matter if they're more talented than others. If Vince Carter have a fan base of 2millions and Oneal being the most dominant player in the league gets 1millions, what does this tell you?? It tells you talents don't matter. Sure it matter some but the fans don't give a damm, they're going to vote for their favorite players, if they hated O'neal, why do you think they want to vote for O'neal, that's absurd.

Bottomline is...FANS don't give a damm if you're a dominant player, they're voting for their favorite players. DO YOU GET IT???
If a player has bad attitude, why do you think fans would want to vote for him?? So stop saying Francis don't deserve to be in the All-Star unless you can give me the reasons why fans should vote for players they don't like????

There is merit to your point BUT the league and history do use "All-Star Apperaences" as a way to gauge a player's greatness. So it is fair to discuss the absurdity of selections.

Personally, I think they should revive their voting system. I think voting for the starters should count like 40% and the other 60% should come from the Western Conference coaches voting like the way they done on American Idol. So whoever won the voting ballots gets 10 points of the total result and whoever lose, gets 0 point....then add that to the coaches voting and determine the All-Star starters. So Yao gets 10points automatically and Shaq gets 0 points since he lost the ballots. With 15 more points spread by the coaches. So if coaches give Shaq 10points and Brad Miller 4 points and Yao 1, then Yao still will be the starter since he's got 10+1=11points total and Shaq got 10points and Miller 4.

I think this will erase any notion that All-Star starters are a popularity contest. But then again, this voting system has gone way back and why would they want to change it now. After all, All-Star Starters IS a Populairty contest!!

You do realize that making it public knowledge that you know how the American Idol voting system works does damage to you're reputation as a basketball guru. Just kidding, hope you have a good Super Sunday.

Exactly. This gotta stop. What's the matter with ppl here. Miller should start over Yao, SF shouldnt start. What's the freaking matter. Enough. They are still Rox players.
