Spec's is coming to Montrose!! Montrose and Westheimer next to Half Price Books in the shopping center on the corner to be exact. The space has stood empty for a while. Recently I walked past the unoccupied location and noticed a wall of coolers had been installed, my first thought was grocery store, but today on my way home, a sign company had plastered a paper layout on the wall so that they could install the electrical part of a new sign, I drove by slowly and barely made out the name of the infamous Rabbit's home!! Spec's Liquor Warehouse. Let's get our drinks on Montrose!
That's cool they're adding another one, but isn't the one in Midtown REALLY close to Montrose anyway?
It was originally a Copperfield, but Spec's changed it once the deal went through. I wouldn't get too excited though -- word is the selection is going to suck, and they will go for the $20 and less wines. Why, I have no idea.
I still remember waking up to Spec's liquor commercials on KTRH as a kid. It's a wonder why I don't drink alcohol...
A new world record! I can't walk out of Spec's Downtown without dropping a ton of cash....especially once I set foot in the humidor!
That whole corner area -- Montrose in front of the Taco Cabana/Tattoo shop/Interfaith Ministries stoop -- where the kids congregate is already bad enough. The bus stop at the corner on Westheimer and the convenience store across the street is also pretty bad. I've never seen the cops do anything about the people who are drunk there right now... so I'm not sure that anything would change for the better when Spec's opens up.
Even though I will live down the street from this new Spec's, I will still make my pilgrimage to the mecca of all Spec's, the downtown (midtown) location! It is the godhead!!
Well, in fairness, it was the one on Westheimer between Kirkwood and Dairy Ashford. It was tempting because I couldn't just go in with my head down and walk right to what I wanted!
Yes, that's exactly what that intersection needs - a liquor store... The corner of Westheimer & Montrose needs to be carpet bombed...
Sweet! Celebrator and Augustinerbrau are only a three minute drive away now, as opposed to that agonizing six minutes!
why use [LIQUOR]? why not use [DRINKING] or [DUNKS] or [ALCOHOL]? why does [LIQUOR] get brackets? Does EVERY thread in the Hangout have to have brackets? How does a girl hold her liquor? (gotta say it with a Southern accent) By the ears.
