Sapphire and Tonic (bad gin sucks!)

bad Margarita's suck, too. I get really mad about the wine-based ones.

Who can turn down a fresh Pina Colada? No other umbrella drinks need apply.

I love good scotch straight, but I never buy it.

Jack Daniels is my favorite whiskey. Mix it with Coke or Dr. Pepper, or drink it straight. I also drink alot of Jim Beam which is a little cheaper but gets you f*cked up just the same. Sometimes when I'm drunk at a bar I'll let the rum and Cokes start flowing like water -> resulting in bad hangovers. Also, try the Mexican Martinis at Trudy's in Austin- damn good.

My stomach doesn't handle vodka too well, and I've had some bad experiences with Tequila (let's just leave it at that). Steer clear from Everclear.

I like those Jaegger bombs, they really wake me up sometimes. Have you guys ever had a Flaming dr. pepper ? If you're in Austin, go to Touche's, they make great ones.

The Library has L.I. teas for a 2.00 sometimes. They're good, but I get in the habit of drinking them too fast. You can have like 4 or five before you notice you're drunk. That's not a good thing sometimes......

I have to agree w/ Baqui. I pretty much exclusively drink Jack & Coke.

However, I notice some of you don't like to f#ck around. There is a little place off of Westheimer near Voss. It is in the Los Tios in front of Caligula. When you enter, immediately to your right there is a door that says

    CLUB

    NO

    MINORS

so that is what we call it. Two small blue margaritas is enough to make a 200 lb. man wobble. A lot of strippers frequent this fine establishment and it can get rowdy in there sometimes. I used to go a lot but I would always be apologizing for something the next day.

I'm more of a beer man.

But when I do get in the mood.

Give me a Sapphire Martini, straight up.

Tequila shots, whiskey sours, vodka tonics, kamikaze shots, margaritas, in that order. I don't have much use for gin-and-tonics or scotch-and-sodas any more... (insert puke-smiley here)

    How about:

What's your favorite Liquor/Mixed Drinks from a foreign country?

Ummmm, you know how every country no matter how backwoods they are (like Tennessee and Kentucky) always make a good spirit that rivals whiskey.

In Peru, it is called Pisco.

A Pisco Sour is pretty awesome. Pisco, Lime Juice, Sugar and Egg (creates a fizz and foam). Yesh! Oh, and you are supposed to try it when waiting at the La Paz airport in Bolivia, which is like 14,000 ft in altitude. hehe

For Spain, Patxaran is a pretty surprising liquor--just ask for it on ice. Comes in many different colors and has an anise taste. It is great for cleansing the palette after dinner. And apparently mixes well with cigars.

For anise liquors, I like Patxaran better than Hemmingway's Absinth....which is the origin of the phrase "Absinth minded." Didn't know that that's how you really spell that did you!!
