    MARGARITAS

I loves me some margaritas!! Really I do!!! Last week a friend told me to add an ounce or so of OJ to my next batch of frozen 'ritas... So this weekend I ran by the liquor store to pick up some stuff and while I was there, I picked up a couple of cans of Minute Maid Limeade frozen concentrate and some individual 4 oz OJ cans... Went home and decided it was time for some 'ritas...

I added one can of Limeade (no water), 2-3oz of OJ, Tequila, Triple Sec and ice... blended that up and BAMM!!! the best dang margaritas I have ever made.

For years, I've searched for a really good margarita I could make at home. I've used lots of different recipes and mixes, but never added OJ, until now... and from now on, I won't make them without it! The OJ took the edge off of the lime and mellows out the overall flavor to give the drink an almost creamy taste! Try it!

    RUM

I've always been a fan of Bacardi rums. Regular, Special Reserve, Dark, Light, Limon... have all been consumed by me!! This weekend I picked up a bottle of Bacardi Vanila! I'm a big fan of vanilla flavor as well as Vanilla Coke, I've tried regular Bacardi with Vanilla Coke and while it's good, it's not as good as Bacardi Vanila with regular coke!! That is a damn tasty drink!!

Do you have a favorite Margarita or Rum recipe?

Please save the drunken horror stories for another thread....

    :D

Bacardi Limon and Diet coke... I know people who loath diet drinks by iteslf, but when given with the rum, they love it.

For some reason, it has a much smoother taste than regular coke (and if you're watching calories, its even better... although you probably shouldn't be drinking in the first place if that's your goal).

I'm a Captain Morgans Addict. I especially like the private reserve but I'll drink either. In Cozumel I picked up a bottle of Captain Morgans Private Dark which I haven't seen here. Very tasty. I also like Meyers.

I make my frozen ritas exactly like you described but in place of the OJ I put a pinch of powdered sugar and it has the same effect. I've used OJ if I don't have powdered sugar.

Now straight up ritas are a different story. Good Tequila, Good Orange liquor and fresh Limes and lemons are the only way to go.

    My top-secret killer margarita recipe:

2 parts top-shelf tequila (cheap stuff won't work. I prefer Sauza Hornitos)
    1 part triple sec
1 part fresh-squeezed lime juice (key limes work best!)

Mix and serve over ice. I don't like frozen ritas so I don't know how this will do in a blender. WARNING! This is a very strong and deceptively tasty drink .

As far as rum goes, it's hard to beat Malibu and Coke. Not that I drink that stuff any more. Rum is way too sweet for me.

Vanilla Stoli and Coke is about as close as one can get to a true "Vanilla Coke" experience. I usually just take my Coke with bourbon.

A good top-shelf tequila would be Patron (silver or gold)

    1. Use small can of Minute maid Limeade
    2. Use same can for tequila
    3. Use same can for orange juice
    4. Put in blender with ice and you have a frozen margarita.
    5. Rim the glass with a lime and put a plate with Kosher salt or margarita salt and invert glass.
    6. Pour margarita into glass

    Current favorite tequila for margaritas...

Puerta Vallarta, I love this tequila in my ritas...
I can't afford the higher end tequilas for margaritas and I don't sip or do shots...

I have some Hornitos, good stuff, not my fav.

    I don't do Cuervo anymore...

My favorite cheap tequila is Mezcal.

BOSS!! BOSS!! DE WORM!! DE WORM!!

I have recently gotten into Mount Gay Barbados Rum. I really like it better than Captain Morgans and Bacardi. You can get it at Specs...costs a little more, but worth it.
