You wont hear from him so let it go especially after V-Span getting zero playing time. Now unless Adelman comes in and wants to find another Peja Stojakovic type player but all bets are off at this point.
I was wondering about him the other day, and I ended up Googling him. According to Wikipedia (yeah, hardly the most reputable source for up-to-date Rockets info), he still has one year left to serve with the IDF. On top of that, he's signed a contract with Maccabi Tel-Aviv.
FWIW, in draftexpress's year end review of the Rockets, they said Lior had a strong year, and likely would've been a 1st rounder in this years draft. doesn't mean he's ready to contribute yet though.
he looks like he has the body and the athleticism for the NBA... unfortunately he is a real tweener, without enough post D to be a true PF and too poor a J to be a true SF... all of his highlights appear to be dunks of some sort (go figure). but at the same time he had some good aggressive finishes near the basket in traffic. the biggest knock on his game from what I have read is the D and J...but on the positive end he has a real good motor and was a solid contributor on one of the top 4 euro teams. giving him another year in europe sounds like the plan (he still has another year on his contract as well I believe). has anyone read anything about whether houston plans on brining him in for summer league?
PeteTheCheat Said it all, he has the body, but this guy can not shoot at all, he's far from being able to shoot the open look from 18 feet.. that's not good. actually he has 2 more years on his contract... until he improve his shooting [and im sorry but i don't think that will happen cuz this guy is playing the 4 most of the time on his team, plus he's afraid to take jumpers and likes to go right, to the rim.] i can't see him coming to the NBA. By the way, don't compare to V-Span, Eliahu has much more NBA potential then typical point-guard like V-Span.
who's joke??? *-For all lior elyahu is satying in Maccabi Tel Aviv another year to try wininig the euroleauge next year!!!
When I watched a game of his on NBA TV, it was stated that the Rockets want him to be a PF. I think he will be the Rockets PF of the Future. When I watch him play now, I think of a poor mans David Lee. He will be a great fit for this team.
