I have Mandrake on VMware. For wireless, try Linuxant or Ndiswrapper

I'm a big ubuntu fan. Check out the ubuntu forums -- they should be able to help you with your network card:

Interesting. I'm also looking into setting up Linux on a laptop I want to connect to my home wireless network. It's currently running Win 95 and it seems that getting wireless cards to work with 95 is a big problem.

I used Fedora and recently ubuntu

installing is easy once you get used to the commands (apt or yum)

just ask a question about everything you dont know and people will help..best way to learn

I've used Gentoo, Fedora, CentOS, Ubuntu, Knoppix before. (K)Ubuntu is probably the easiest to start using. Fedora is pretty good too.

You need to find out what type of wireless card you have. That will make a big difference in installation.

Previously I had used Mandrake, but my most recent endevour into learning Linux was also with Ubuntu as others mentioned. I'm really enjoying it, everything (even my iPod) was reckognized the first time I booted up, also had no problems getting my Wireless card working and accessing my wireless HP printer that's on the network. Great Distro... :)
