First, this is in no way intended to put down the play of jeremy lin, he is playing great and we should all be happy for him

But our friends at ESPN has shown their bias again, would Jeremy lin story really be this big if he were doing it in Houston. No, they would say no big deal or he really hasnt played this way a full season, but in NY its like they built him into the second coming of Magic Johnson.

Why is Espn so damn biased toward New York teams but call themselves a national sports network. Is anyone else sick of this?

Probably not.. is that what you want to hear?

But its not just ESPN. It's because NY has the presence of other MAJOR news outlets. The Houston Chronicle just doesn't compare.

By the way, not sure where you got that from but he hasn't been built up like the second coming of Magic Johnson.

People just appreciate his story (how he got here), and what he's doing NOW (for the Knicks) based on the situation the Knicks were in not too long ago.

    For ESPN, it's generally:

    Knicks
    Lakers
    Heat
    Boston
Other teams with stars who can dunk
    Everyone else

Lin would get some attention if he were doing his thing in Houston but not much. New York is a gigantic media market. Gigantic. Hysteria feeds in on itself.

Still can't believe someone let the "chink in the armor" thing get through, though, even if it was more of a Freudian slip than a deliberate swipe at Lin (who knows?).

Are you saying Pekovik isn't getting the same attention?

Exactly what he is saying. Peko is playing like the best center in the league right now.

Are you saying Rubio is better than Lin?

No. He is right. They have blown this up way more than they should have. Because of this, they will now have a magnifying glass on all of his negatives. Like the 9 turnovers last night being tied with the most for the NBA this season.

This isn't a Houston Rockets story/topic at all and there are plenty of Lin threads in the NBA Dish.

Kinda like Jose Calderon of the Raptors. Playing his heart out there yet he goes unnoticed.

Didn't we have this Yao Ming guy who also got us a lot of attention and games broadcasted on national TV?

    Are we...forgetting that or what?

Its as simple as looking at ESPN's web site to see the bias is now intentional
    http://espn.go.com/

    Up top it has

[CITIES: BOSTON | CHICAGO | DALLAS | LOS ANGELES | NEW YORK]

Those cities have their own SECTIONS on the site. Not much reading between the lines about it, they're very matter-of-fact about it now.

    How late are you?

They've had their own sections for 2 years now.

This is true but I don't think Lin-mania is soley the result of ESPN. I'm in NY and Jeremy Lin is EVERYWHERE.

I thought the same thing to myself too. I'm not so sure Jeremy Lin would be receiving this type of attention league-wide if he was doing this stuff in Houston.

However, I think you could make the argument that the reason why his story is so great is specifically because he ended up going big-time in the Garden, which is a feat in of itself.
