I remember someone asking about Jose in another thread. I just saw this and figured someone may be interested in an update.

I'm wondering if Lima would like that 20th win ball back from Jim Rome.

Thats amazing how in the spring trainning of 99 he promised he would win 20 games and he backed it up by winning 21.

It's amazing how quickly one can fall...shows you how not everything in life is guaranteed and every opportunity should be taken advantage of. He's a great guy but its obvious that 99 season was a fluke. Either way...good luck Jose.

    Yuuuuup.

I remember when they were going to convert him from reliever to starter. That made me wanna vomit.

He was a terrible reliever, and somehow became a 1-year superstar. I still live the guy for his team chemistry, just to bad he sucks now.

It is amazing, thoguh, that the Astros ALWAYS find a way to get a solid pitching rotation (in certain curretn years, that is).

While I certainly think that the guy was far from a 20 game winner, talent-wise, keep in mind that he did win 16 games the very next season.

He was a headcase...that's the bottom line. He was screwed up at Enron Field...he was complaining about it before it was ever even built. But you don't win 16 games and 20 games on a fluke. Not in the major leagues. He had some tremendous pitches and was integral to our division championships.

More than being a headcase, which he was, he got spoiled.

Does anybody else have the Casa Ole song going through their head right now? If you didn't before, sorry, because you probably do now....

He turned into a coke head. That was his downfall.

    must.........resist...............bad news bears................reset............

    WHEW!

Many people contribute Lima's great season and a half to the canaverous Astrodome, but he was traded to one one of the best pitcher's parks in the league and still managed to suck...His career was just like a tech stock.

Yes. I know a girl he was dating(sleeping with) when he played in Houston. She said he was a huge coke head, and that doesn't really surprise me.

Yeah, he's a slut. It's funny because his wife is really hot and the girl that I know I don't think is that attractive. Anyway, she told me he did a lot of coke. It surprised me at first but then I thought about it and it made a lot of since.

I used to ask her if he said, "It's Lima Time!" when they where having sex. :D

Even more scary is that I know a girl he dated, so either he really really got around or we know the same gals. However this one was _very_ young. I think she attends Syracuse now.

Hey thats not too far from Newark.

The Newark Bears were the 2002 Atlantic League Champions.
