I got a new fixture for an outdoor light. I should have done more research on the bulb, but who would have known. It only takes a 26 watt fluorescent light, 4 pin, base g24q-3. It says '26 watt max,' but funny thing is, the only bulbs that fit are 26 watts. The G24q-1 base is a 13 watt 4 pin bulb. On the q-3 bulb, there are little plastic tabs at the base that are offset of eachother link to picture: http://www.1000bulbs.com/product/59942/FC26-G24Q330P.html
For the Q-1 bulb, the tabs are in a different position. My question is, can I cut the tabs off the 13 watt so it fits into my base? I would say no if I was going to a higher watt bulb, but I'm going lower, so I think it would be ok...

    ^ BOBBY BROWN?

Anyway... Mr. MAK, sir... maybe post the manufacturer or model of the fixture...? It seems that all the 26w fluorescent bulbs have that same plastic end.

If there's something defective with the fixture... the store will have a:

Return of the MAK! altering a device to make it fit into an electrical socket doesnt sound like a good idea.

If you do that you will most likely overload the bulb and burn it out/pop it as soon as you turn it on.

I am assuming your fixture was made in China, so it could also catch on fire burning down you home and destroying all your worldly possessions. The fire could also consume your loved ones and or pets. Your wife, if she survives the fire will most likely divorce you and be granted custody of your children. The court would most likely reward her the insurance settlement as well; leaving you poor, homeless and alone.

Then again they could all perish in the fire, leaving you all the insurance money and granting you a fresh start. One that you would most likely waste grieving and boozing in cheap bars and hotels; as the money starts to run out you find yourself drinking rubbing alcohol, fingernail polish remover, and paint thinner. This of course leaves you a blind, homeless, sobbing retch, a prime candidate for exploitation in the homeless community.

All because you didn’t want purchase the correct light bulb for the fixture.
