Okay...we have had way too may polarizing political threads in here lately, and as it clearly cost me votes on the Most Respectable Senior Voters ( You little, petty mean liitle men know who I'm talking about...:D ) clearly something has to be done...So what i suggest is this. We complile an extreme version of Hollywood fictional representatives for a political show off...Sort of like Stuff Magazine used to do with cartoon dogs, or whatever...And we seed them off, and they go head to head, like a tennis tournament seeding...until there is only one. You will have to trust me to make the last decision on my own, but I swear I will be objective...this will be for fun.

So what I want everyone to do is to think of extreme fictional movie chracters which somewhat accurately represent eithr ideology...Each poster nominates 4 pres and one chairman for each side. We will total the totals up and arrive at a top ten for each political side, including a chairman of choice...Remember, when your choosing your characters, try not to be to ridiculous or insulting to the other side, but this is for fun, so think well...

Please vote with kindness, good humour, creativity, and try to be as impartial as possible.

Also...no representations of actual people; fictional only.

Okay...My Top Five Hollywood Stereotypical Liberals: Chairman: Jeff Bridges title character in the Big Lebowski.

Candidate: Robert Redford in the Candidate

Candidate: Either Cheech or Chong...whichever could stay straight longest.

Candidate: Diane Keaton in Manhatten or Annie Hall.

Candidate: Sean Penn as Spicoli in Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

My Top Five Hollywood Stereotypical Conervatives

Chairman: Michael Douglas as Gheko in Wall Street.

    Candidate: Sylvester Stalone as Rambo.

Candidate: John Wayne in...anything, but for the sake of argument, Red River.

Candidate: Rod Steiger in In The Heat Of The Night

Okay, now everyone think of much better ones than this drunk ass poster can come up with, but I think that my Chairmen will be hard to beat...then we'll seed the final selections, pair them off, and the fun begins...

    PEACE

    JAG

You forgot the greatest Liberal/Conservative pairing of all time-

    Michael Stivik vs. Archie Bunker

That leaves me with 4 each.

    Libs-

    1. Jeff Spicolli
    2. Otis, from the Andy Griffith Show
    3. Dick Van Dyke, on break
    4. Foster Brooks, in character

    Conservatives-

    1. Ben Stein, when he won
    2. Ronald Reagan, win one for the Gipper!
    3. Jack Ryan
    4. G.W. Bush

Have to be fictional characters...and while GW might qualify, Ryan, Reagan, and Stein don't. Oh, and I guess we can bring tv characters into it, re: Archie and meathead, but I wasn't going that way originally...

Nah...john can and will keep his fun cap on in all of this, right john? This isn't actually a political debate that will decide anything, it's for fun, and self-mockery is a lot more fun than mocking others, I find,

This is tough: most of the Hollywood depictions of Conservatives shows them as repugnant. In the sobriety of daylight, MacBeth, you will notice that your list of Conservatives is made up of crooks, misfits, racists, and psychotics. :)

    Here is my partial list:

    LIBS

    1. Cliff Huxtable
    2. Max Bickford
    3. Hawkeye Pierce
    4.
    5.

    CONS

    1. Jim Rockford
    2.

I don't know, haven't really thought about it. I was just thinking of Joe Friday as a fictional conservative.

I would say that there are more misfits represented by the liberals in MacBeth's post than the conservatives...or at least the same.

It is pretty hard to determine which fictional character's were truly politically biased.

    Dems:
    1.Hong Kong Phooey
    2. Richard Simmons (c'mon-he's COMPLETELY fictional, right?)
    3. The Dominoes 'Noid.
    4. Otto from the Simpson's
    5. George Jefferson

    Cons:
    1. Stewie from Family guy
    2. Diamond Joe Quimby
    3. Richard Roma from Glengarry/Glenross
    4. Hank Hill
    5. Ahhh, and Joe Camel.

Anyway, best I can do for now.

    This is not easy.

    Libs-

    1. Jesus- here is a fictional character (in my opinion) who wanted everyone to share everything!! PINKO ALERT!;)

    2. Robin Hood- wow, talk about wealth redistribution!

    3. The Tooth Fairy- everybody gets money, regardless of the quality of tooth?!?!

    4. Santa Claus- Hey, did any of those kids pay for those damn toys?

    5. James Carville- Wait, he is a real person?? That is scary!

    Cons-

    1. The Almight God of the Old Testament- Eye for an eye, you dirty MFer!! This is a meritocracy, and don't you forget it!!

    2. Benjamin Buford Blue, aka Bubba, Forrest Gump's best pal- this man died for his country fighting the dirty Commies, with visions of Capitalism dominating his thought and conversations.

    3. Bruce, the fake Great White Shark from "Jaws"- This guy never asked any favors, and only took what he needed.

    4. Mr. Bennet, the father in "Pride and Prejudice"- This is a great conservative figure, who had to constantly put up with Liberals (the three youngest girls).

    5. Ward Cleaver- This man is a paragon of virtue, despite all his trouble taming the Beaver.
