I found a 42" LCD TV made by LG that I want to buy. If you own an LG, tell me about your experiences with the brand.

    Thanks.

Their XCanvas(?) line is pretty good..

A couple years ago when I stayed with family, I got to enjoy a 60" Plasma.. It was the first time watching HD and I was amazed.... Great stuff!

I currently own a 40" Sony LCD so thats about all I can tell you.

Depends on the model... every company has low end and high end models (well almost every company). LG is the sister company of Zenith. They make good "upper middle-class" tv's. By that I mean, they're not necessarily low end and not necessarily high end. They're better than the typical names you read and think "who?".

I taught an English class at LG for a few months earlier this year.

It's a Korean company and their reputation is pretty good. It is the second or third largest company in Korea (Samsung and Hyundai are the other big ones). They make tons of stuff: refrigerators, monitors, A/C units, TVs, etc..

My girlfriend has an LG flatscreen computer monitor and she loves it. It's a good brand.

A 50" would be nice, but it might be too big for my living room.

I don't think I would buy a LG. I've heard the failure rates were pretty high. Thats hearsay of course.

I've only seen LG's in the low end of the business world. (hotel rooms, banks, convenient stores, ect .. ). Perhaps LG makes a very cheap model (quality and cost)that they sell to the business world because they all seem to have a bad picture. It seems as if other people are pretty satisfied with theirs...maybe because there are better quality LG's than others?

You're right; Best Buy has a Westinghouse 42" for about the same price.
