Who else besides Carlisle, Dunleavy and Van Gundy would you like to see considered? Who are your stealth candidates? I'll go with Donnie Nelson.
Pat Riley.....Gregg Poppovich....Rick Adelman....Phil Jackson...Don Nelson...If they could somehow get any of these coaches...I would be happy. Doc Rivers maybe...
How about Scott Sciles, former coach of the Phoenix Suns. He was a hardnose player and coach. He is a bit rough on the edges but does bring out the best in his players. What do you think?
I actually agree that Scott Skiles would be a great fit with this team. However, I would prefer that he be retained as an assistant coach. While I'm pretty sure that wouldn't happen, he'd be an EXCELLENT tutor for Francis and Moochie. He was able to get the most out of his talent as a point guard (Skiles holds the NBA record for assists in a game with 30!). He always played hard and tough and was a hustle player. Also, he would not be afraid to get up in Francis's face and scream him down if he doesn't get his act together (not that Francis is a big problem child or anything). If JVG or Dunleavy brought Skiles in with his staff (again, unlikely), I'd be a very happy camper.
I like Donnie also but Don Nelson was on the radio here in Dallas before leaving for Maui and he explained that Donnie likes being President of Basketball Operations for the Mavericks and has no desire to move into the "hot" seat.
Tim Floyd, former coach of the Chicago Bulls. He was supposed to be great. He will be, with some talent.
