The next 10 years or so will be a glorious time for us. We have the games BEST up and coming point guard. We have one of the leagues better shooting guards. A top 7 draft pick, and a great scoring pf. We are role players away from the promise land. We werent gonna win any more rings in the Dream Era. But it is FRANCHISE Time now!!!!!!!1

We have NO LOW POST PRESENCE in a conference filled with low post players. We HAVE, a lottery team.

Yes, we have a lottery team. Probably a 35-40 win team next year.

We have a great backcourt granted, but our frontcourt is one of the most soft in the league. Mo Taylor, Shandon, and Cato/Collier, maybe Mark Jackson? Sorry, there's only so much Steve and Cuttino can do. That frontcourt is just pitiful defensively with Taylor and Cato/Collier/Jackson.

And Taylor with his fat, overvalued contract is going to screw the Rockets ability to land marquee FA's in 2003. That's what we have.

    Get Cato out of there...

    I do NOT concur.

I think the Rockets can improve on last season. They added a talented PF/SF in E. Griffin, Cat, Francis, Langhi all are a year wiser, and they do not have to look to make Dream happy and can just play ball.

If the Rockets resign their remaing FA, and get Marc Jackson, I will be one happy camper.

PS. Now we get to see what Cato really has, play him till he drops.

First of all, Collier ...he won't get quality minutes. I see him playing 5 minutes before the end of the halves. The only reason we saw him break the rotation last year is b/c Olajuwon was injured.
Also, Langhi..he has a great touch, but he lacks size. He is also a streak shooter. I don't see him getting more than 10 mins a game.
We should have just gotten Brendan Haywood. He would overcompensate for Cato's lackluster performance and Collier's softness.
As far as EG, don't get to excited over his summer hoops performance. That league was very laid back. EG has potential but he won't have a break out Vince Carter year. He is at most the #3 option on our team.

Amazing what one player can do. If Cato goes 10-8-2 last season, and shows the slightest sign of durability, we're probably not so worried. We'd be the gift of time and probably a backup big man away from being a playoff lock and a serious contender in 2 years, with ~6 mill in cap space.

Eddie Griffin has a serious low post game. How many 19 year olds have a pet move as sweet as Griff's baseline turnaround? He won't be the answer immediately, but he will be eventually.

we do NOT have a Lottery team next year. Olajuwon was not the whole team last year, he contributed but hes not the difference between the playoffs and the lottery this year. the man is 39 years old. stop blowing this out of proportion. we sign marc jackson, we are better than pheonix, we are better than minn. dont call us a lottery team, thats too much credit for olajuwon and not enough for the rest of the team.

Da Dakota: My sentiments exactly. I'd love to see Marc Jackson in the pinstripes.

I'm not sure the Rockets need a low post presence unless they plan on beating LA in the Conference finals.

Unless you secretly know what Mo's contract will be we don't know HOW it will effect the cap. Besides, if the Rockets would have signed Dream for what he wanted, about 10 million dollars a year for 3 years, THAT would have just devastated the cap for 2003. As long as the Rockets get some quality big men, they won't be a lottery team.

Besides I hope people don't turn this into a "Shandon and Mo cost us Dream" rant, because it was obviously more complicated then that.

You think way too much of Hakeem at this point in his career if you believe he makes or breaks us as a winning team

ZRB is right. Agree with him. Without Hakeem the rockets dont have any low post presence.

    Agree with ZRB.

We were a playoff team with Dream in the second half of last year, but choked in big games. Dream had more of an impact than some people give him credit.

No matter what ya'll say we are NOT a better team without him. I just hope something is done for the 5 position.

ZRB is absolutely right,we have no low post presence at all,and Hakeem played well in the last half of the season and gave us a chance of making it to the playoffs. We are a lottery team right now.

So you expect us to be just barely better than the 99-00 team, when Steve was a rookie and Hakeem and Barkley were hurt? I don't think so. We won 45 games last year, and if we sign Marc Jackson and with the weakening of some other West teams such as Utah and Phoenix, I see no reason why we can't repeat or exceed 45 wins.

We may not be a lottery team, but we definately aren't better. Unless Steve starts becoming an elite player.

Define an elite player? Steve has got the stats 20-5-5 and the wins 45. I think he is an All-Star calibre player already. But in saying that, it will take a little time and effort before he has the necessary cast to win titles.

Is that you're def of an elite player?
