The Rockets should keep Kelvin Cato for two reasons. One reason is Cato is the Rockets he was the only center for the last 10 games of the season because of injuiries to Hakeem Olajuwon and Carlos Rogers. The other reason is Cato is a good shotblocker without Cato the opponents will get easy shots with no shotblocker. Why trade Kelvin Cato?

Yes, Kelvin Cato was the only center of record for the Rockets, but he was also the Rockets wallflower of record or if you prefer ... a huge hunk of protoplasm standing siliently on the court.

He needs to show me and ninety-nine percent of all the fans, not to mention the entire Rockets organization, that he is not a lazy, worthless over-paid and underacheiving slob. Albeit a tall one.

Although you "cannot teach height" as the saying goes, you also cannot be good for the team, functional at your position or automatically skilled in your play if all you bring to the game is tallness.

Give me a player who wants to win and plays his heart out every shift and I will show you a Rocket of Record.

I still like Cato. He fits this team and just needs to work harder. Despite how much as many Rocket fans are disgusted with him, Cato is still one of the top young centers in the game. And centers are still hard to find. Just look at the center crops in this year's and last year's draft. Thin.

Unfortunately, as of this time, he doesn't provide us with the things we need down low (like offense). However, what he does have (youth, shot blocking and defense) should prove valuable to another team. But if he is still working hard with CD and is developing then I'd like keep him.

I always have and always will like Kelvin. The Rockets should definitely keep the Catomic Bomb. I think this may be my 15th time posting this message but my thoughts stay the same. [IMG]

I agree Kelvin is too valuable & he is way too young to give up on. Unless your going to get a can't pass deal out of shelling him off forget it. What then you have holes all over the roster from C, PF, SF & possibly Mobley getting a better deal though I think it would take allot to convince him to leave & there is no way you can fill these holes with a 9th pick, 1 or FA's & a trade.

I think people are forgetting a very important reason on why we should keep Cato. He gives Shaq trouble in the post and let's face it we are going to eventually have to go through the Lakers at one point in time and why not have Big Boddies that can support rather than just having Big Boddies.

Keep Cato for at least this year. He has the physical tools and he's locked up for a long time. I simply want to see if this guy will learn some offensive game and will learn to stop getting crappy fouls. 1st he needs to learn to catch the ball. Second he needs to learn a small amount of post game, not really too much. He could score 13-15 ppg with offensive game like McDyess. I'm talking 4-5 dunks from alleyoops etc. per game. The only other thing I want him to do is rebound and slam back the garbage. Why not keep him, name another center we want.
