Why discuss it? Like you said, it's a pipe dream.

I like how 610 played the Preposterous trade song as soon as the thread was locked. It was hilarious.

Man did that spread like a wild fire or what? I wasn't crying wolf I heard them say the Rockets were working on a trade for Artest a round 3 pm central time and then nothing.

It might not be a pipe dream because we don't know what state of mind Artest is in. He may be telling Bird right now that he'd like a month off to start the season and Bird could be thinking just get a warm body for this guy and trade him before his value goes down. Do you think the Rockets could still pull off the trade T-Mac for Francis now that Steve's value has decreased?

Bird considers Artest a top 10 player talent so he won't trade for anything less than that. Artest also makes only 7 million a year which is cheap for his level of play. The only way I see Artest being traded is for a young up and coming player such as Dwight Howard, Okufor, or Ben Gorden.

Maybe the Euro is going to play in Artests spot.

I think Bird would take somebody like Marion for Artest and additional cap relief in the form of expirings for Croshere, but only if he felt that Artest was going to be disruptive to the team.

I thought I read somewhere a while back that Bird, Donnie, and Rick had determined to break up the Artest-SJackson-JONeal combination. That would lead me to believe that they wanted rid of SJackson or that they are stonewalling to get maximum value out of Artest. Jermaine ain't goin nowhere. And I haven't heard any more about this for a couple months now.

The risk for Indiana with Artest is simply if he goes off one more time, he will probably get banned for life. That is the risk that any team trading for him has to understand. He is probably at zero tolerance.

can you guys stop crying like little babies?

someone wants to discuss a trade possibility why dont you let him? Were people this rude and cynical when TMac wanted to come to Houston. I think it would be pretty tough for us to swing a trade for Artest unless he really wanted out. Or the Pacers were just fed up with him but could still get better value from another team than from us. Only chance I see of us getting Artest is if we involved another team that was looking for capspace.

Michael Jordan was the badest player on the planet but how useful to the Bulls was he when he was swinging at baseballs. The point being that yes Artest is a huge talent, but he'd rather do other things besides play basketball. That puts a question mark beside his value as a basketball player.

Value is all about information. The Pacers have the best information on Artest because he plays for them and they may know many things we as outsiders don't know, so his value in their eyes could be much lower than the Rockets would value him. Never say never! You can't handle the truth!

    Dude.

The radio host himself said that what you reported was not on the radio. So you have basically been proven wrong. It does appear as if you made it up. Even IF you had somehow heard voices in your head which told you there is a rumor that the Rockets might be interested in Artest, your thread title was totally misleading.

It is a miracle that you are still posting here.

You are just lucky that Jeff apparently does not ban people. But I am pretty sure you will get dealt with soon.
