Are you, A) David Carr hater (He sucks and always will) B) David Carr fan (Wait till he breaks out this year) C) Not Sure Yet (we have seen good things and bad things over 4 years)
C. I have seen good and bad and know that not too many QBs could have succeeded under the last coaching staff. We will see exactly what happens this year. Alot of pressure on David this year.
Come on guys answer this, David Carr is the reason we are passing on Vince period. It is up to him not Bush to bring it and lead the Texans. I say C i'm not sure but if I had to pick I would say B- he will bring it but I still say if I were McNair I'm taking VY
yep i'm on that. give him one full season of protection and not setting records for sacks, and if he still sucks stat-wise and game-wise, i'll stop defending..
I'm a little A and a little C. He hasn't done anything to inspire confidence. He's never taken the team on his back and carried them to wins. He's shown poor decision making. He locks in on one receiver. He takes unnecessary sacks, he makes 1 good throw to every bad throw, he isn't a respected leader in the locker room. All that said he hasn't had the best team to work with but still I expect more and have had my doubts about him since day one. Come on Carr... prove me wrong.
The potential is there. You can look no further than the 2nd quarter of the Arizona game this past season. I predict big things for Carr, and this entire offense, next year.
Needs this > D.) My man-crush on Vince Young has permanently clouded any rational judgement on the present, or for that matter, any future quarterback of the Texans.
Bob McNair today on Cold Pizza said that one question they asked in every interview for head coach was about Carr and the QB situation. He said that all seven coaches said that Carr should be the guy and that they just needed to put him in a suituation to make plays. McNair then said, that's something we haven't given David, but that's what we're working on.
I like David Carr and I hope he takes the Texans to the Super Bowl. I don't like it though when he doesn't look for Andre Johnson and mis reads coverage. And I can't stand his timing on deep throws. And he is no where near the QB that Vince Young is. Go Texans! Go David Go!
I'm a C. He's only had one legit reciever...the rest have all been scrubs for the most part. Bradford was decent the first year, but that was before we got AJ. He's never had even decent protection. We all know this story. He's obviously not an MVP caliber QB. I think he has the tools, that if surrounded by some talent, can win it all and maybe see the pro bowl a couple of times. Definitely no excuses this year though...AJ, Moulds, DD, Bush, Putzier, hell even Cook at FB can catch passes out of the backfield.
Well we did our very best to put him in situations to kill drives. Sounds to me like if I was interviewing for the Head Coaching job I would kinda kiss up to Mr. McNair's face of the franchise just a little. or You could give him a Jeff Van Gundy response. "Look Bob, his QB rating is sub 70's, he's shell shocked in the pocket, and he has a hard time getting the ball to his best receiver, but your the owner and I think I can turn him into the next Brett Farve, just give me Pittsburg's defense and Indy's offense and I guarantee you Carr will improve if I'm hired"
An NFL QB should never be guilty of this. That said, incompletions suck. They suck for the team, they suck for a QB who's trying to establish himself. If I had AJ and a bunch of brick-handed dumbasses who couldn't catch a football if it were covered in tar, I'd end up locked in on AJ as well.
