i enjoyed seeing MoT play but i just dont think that he fits in with our team anymore... i think getting rid of him and glen rice would be the wise thing to do.... after coming off a achillies tendon and knee surgery i dont think they would be able to run the fast break with steve cat and ming... i just dont see them fitting in... i see the starting line up like this..... francis cat griffin- although he aint a sf i would still start him kt cato then you have a bench of.... moochie oscar torres (maybe) nachbar tmo ming
it would also free up alot alot alot alot of money... why are we gonna spend all that money if they didnt even play half the season last year?????
Lets at least give Mo a fair chance to prove that he's 100% and can contribute to this team before we all holler about trading him.
i wouldn't get rid of Mo. Mo is a very good player very skilled offensively, but can't rebound, but can shoot but can't rebound but i been hearing he's tearing up kt in practice. oh yeah did i mention he can't REBOUND!
Oh yeah by the way who would you replace Mo and Rice with? Because right now that bench looks pretty weak
It's not even the playing that is at issue. Who are you going to find that will take an over-the-hill shooter coming off a missed year due to injury at $9 million per season and a power forward coming off a year missed with an achillies injury who will also miss the first five games of the year on a drug suspension for $6 million per season???
i'm sorry, but it really irritates me when people come up with the off the cuff suggestions without even thinking about it. who the hell is going to trade for mo taylor and/or glen rice right now??? it would be like utah saying, "hey, let's get rid of greg ostertag!" that's just stupid. of course you'd like to get from underneath a large contract to a player who's coming off of a serious injury. but it's damn near impossible! the good thing (for the rockets) about it is that mo tay is actually a damn good player. he's a great team player, too. glen, well at least (from what i've heard) he's been good in the locker room and supportive of the players. he isn't being a detriment and has been working to get back in game shape. what more do you want??? please think before you press submit.
The only way to logically get rid of Mo Taylor in a trade is to package him with someone of value and a small contract. The one player on our team who fits that description is Kenny Thomas. He's young, had a solid year as a starting PF and has a small contract. You package Mo with him to match saleries in a deal and you can move him. You package him with Rice, Cato, or Moochie (players who's contract are worth more than their talent level) and you'll get hung up on by every GM in the league.
Let me just say that I'm not advocating the trading of KT... I'm just saying that the only way to trade Mo and keep our core of young players is to pakcage him in a deal with KT.
Francis didn't play practically half the season, want to get rid of him? Mo got injured getting ready for the season and you're ripping him? It's stupid. You're complaining that he didn't earn his money because he got injured trying to get ready to HELP the team. I mean think about this before posting stuff like this. What, you're going to snap your finger and make Mo and Rice disappear?
KT is too small to be our PF, we need MoT's size and strength. MoT offers everything KT does with more strength, which is something I think the Rockets need.
It's not like Thomas will be guarding Duncan and Webber every night, Griffin will. Thomas will be guarding the other teams backup power forwards. I don't think he'll have any problem guarding the likes of Malik Rose and Lawrence Funderburke.
I'm totally against trading Mo, but here are a few points: 1.) Mo's contract is about half of Vin Baker's, and Seattle was able to trade him without giving up a core piece. 2.) Why would you want to dump him for salary reasons? It wouldn't free up any money! With Steve's extension, we are over the cap regardless. I could care less if he makes 8 mil, 4 mil, or 12 mil per season. Yes, I know about the luxury tax. But, you're really underestimating CD as a GM if you think he would let Griffin or Ming walk because of Mo, Rice, or Cato's contracts. If Les refuses to pay the tax, we will deal one of our larger contracts when the time comes. There's no benefit to doing it now. 3.) For all of you claiming Mo can't rebound, the difference in Mo and KT's rebounds per 48 minutes is less than one per game. Mo will be on this team and will be starting when his suspension is over.
Big Mo should be more familiar with the team this year. His numbers will increase with more PT. The last season he played with Houston he only got 28 minutes per contest. When he gets more consistant PT and looks, he'll do well. Rice is over the hill and no one will be taking his $9MM contract. The Rockets will have to just eat it and hope he can put in some time and hit the clutch shots when needed. Cato needs to go with his fat contract and lack of production, but again like many other players in the league, their contracts are just not attracting a lot of interest.
New Jack, Duncan Webber and even R. Horry would eat LIL Griffin for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Griffin WILL be, not is great. He is a mere "role-player" at this point in his career. I think he has tremendous upside, but at this point it is dumb to think the Griffin can handle those guys.
I'm thinking long term here. Everyone is so pre-occupied with next season that there not thinking 2 or 3 years from now. In 2 or 3 years Griffin will likely be the starting power forward for this team. He's the power foward of the future and he will be the one guarding those guys night in and night out.
