This guy is awsome. I see great athleticism there, something we lack. He has a lot of range too. So much potential, he can help right away. Put him at the three and Tmac at the two. Solves a lot of problems. Look at that vertical. Will he be a great fit for us? How do you post vidoes. I dont know how, tried quiet a bit.
I completely agree, except he probably won't be on the board when we get to our pick. Wow I just realized the wording of your title... Everyone talking about Rudy's lack of heart is ridiculous. I would take Gay over anyone in the draft, minus Bargnani. He is a very talented player, maybe not a go-to guy, but great complementary potential. People mistake his team-oriented approach with passiveness, which as far as I could tell was not true. He got double-teamed a lot in college, and he did what he was supposed to do, pass out. I would much rather have a player like this over one of an opposite mentality.
I like the thread title, very Tobias Funke. Anyways i thought'd i'd paste this link for an article, the kid seems hungry: http://www.draftexpress.com/headlines.php#1949
Agreed. And I recommend reading the Hartford Courant article that DraftExpress links to, especially how he gets motivated by seeing that George Mason green and yellow around the gym he works out. It's too bad we won't have a shot at this kid unless we leapfrog to the top 3. He's still undervalued (until he wows in workouts), and has the best upside in this admittedly weak draft. The great thing is, his upside is so high that he doesn't have to even fully reach it to be considered a successful pick.
A lot of members here don't like the guy but he could be a very very good NBA player; maybe a special player. Why any team would draft Tyrus Thomas before Rudy Gay totally escapes me. Gay could be the #1 pick of the draft.
The Rockets will definitely take a hard look at Gay based on his athleticism and potential alone, CD tried to move up for Green when he fell. But Gay is still a pretty raw player IMO. He shot a terrible 31.8% from 3-pt land after having an outstanding freshman season. I doubt Gay falls this low anyways, but you never know.
Just wanted to say...you are the coolest person ever. I like Gay. I would just like to move T-Mac back to SG if we draft Gay, but I don't think JVG would do that.
5. Toronto 6. Minnesota 7. Boston All teams that have a need for swingman players at either SG/SF positions. If Gay even falls out of the top 5 in the first place, I highly doubt any of these teams pass on him.
T.Wolves have McCants and R.Davis, but I can see them taking one. Was McCants a lott pick as well? Celtics have Wally, Pierce and Green. I don't see them taking a swingman. I think either Gay or Roy will fall if a PG goes somewhere in the top 7.
I was speaking with my analrapist recently and he told me of the many problems related to getting gay. I'm just not too sure about that right now.
I agree with you on that point. I think Minnesota and Boston needs point guards more than tall swingmen. Toronto has Bosh/Villanueva but could use a banger or a point guard more with Mike James/Morris Peterson. I think Randy Foye, Marcus Williams or Sheldon Williams could be the key guys for us in that if they do great in workouts, they could go up the ladder and have a Rudy Gay or Brandon Roy fall to us.
I forgot about Szczerbiak so I guess he's probably not an option for the Celtics. McCants is more of a combo guard they are trying to mold into a PG. I still think the T-Wolves would take Gay if they had the chance.
Gay is the exact type of player who would gain a huge boost from individual workouts. At the same time, Roy is the exact type to see a fall in his stock during this period. Bet on Gay getting a boost when teams see his amazing skill firsthand, while Roy will fall a bit when he fails to measure 6'6", and doesn't have a great shooting/athletic ability performance in those workouts. Teams will forget how good he is. There's a good chance Roy could be there if Marcus Williams jumps up the stock charts.
