Rich Eisen when interviewing RG3 today about CJ said that he’s hearing rumblings that the Jets/Texans game might get flexed for Monday. That dude is kind of juiced in iirc.

Edit: RG3 said that he’s hearing that might be when Aaron Rodgers comes back.

    Noon Games Are Perfecter

Honest questions: What's the huge deal about primetime games? Why should I care what other random people are watching my team?

It's always fun to get recognition from the outside. We know what we have, but it just adds that extra level of glee when you see everyone else get gassed up over your team's performances.

Texans have plenty of recognition now. Texans winning the division and CJ winning MVP will be the final touch to a great season (still amazing otherwise).

I agree, but to be fair, we (stroud) are getting insane recognition already. Like I truly have no idea what to do with my hands, this is so unfamiliar and it’s amazing

I'm holding out for a YouTube reaction video from Carson Palmer. That's when I know we'll have arrived.

It’s not a huge deal… and honestly the 3:25 “national” game is more exclusive and gets a **** ton of viewers.

Some of us live outside of Houston and have obligations that make our weekends cluster****s, so Sunday/Monday night are better for us.

I don't care when you play it. I just don't want to watch it then.

Especially with Chicago-Minnesota being the MNF game next week. Makes no sense not to flex that - unless they didn't to not mess with Thanksgiving weekend. It also would've put Jags on MNF back-to-back weeks, so maybe that was a factor, too?

It's been totally neutered by Thursday and Sunday Night Football and, especially, the move from ABC to ESPN; but, back in the day, Monday Night Football was an EVENT.

I don't think we'd remember Earl's destruction of the Dolphins as vividly if it had happened at noon on Sunday rather than on Monday night. That was a playoff atmosphere, it just felt huge at the time.

Also, I still love thinking about the fact that the entire nation watched the Texans humiliate Southern Oklahoma's Team on a Sunday night rather than at noon.

This didn't initially occur to me, but if they flex GB v NYG - which they might (should), the Texans/Jets will automatically get the slot because the Giants game would be moved back to Sunday, and the Jets are already playing at the stadium that day. So they would be forced to swap the games.

Its feeling like this will be the play.

If Rodgers comes back you can practically book it.

I agree they went way past the point of diminishing returns on exclusive time slots. They, not we, have made them less relevant to those viewers who would not normally watch at the normal time slot.

And I definitely remember the importance of Monday Night Football on ABC. Of course I also remember the importance of the Saturday MLB Game of the Week too before the NCAA fell in love with night games.
