I'm from a very old school indian family that republicans are good and democrats are for the poor and not good. So I ask you, if you were to generate say $200-300K+ annually as a business owner, what president would really be better for you and why? I'm open to the concept that I don't really know what each man stands for and as a tabula rasa whose too busy with law school to care I'd like to educate my family on why, if true, republican is or isn't the right way for them to vote.

When you elect Republicans you get a news cycle filled with nuttery, so regardless of economics, your quality of life is better under democrats.

And dude, Indian? really, you are a terrorist to them.

    Sure.
If you want to suck the lives from poor people to add to your personal wealth then Republican is the way to go!

Doesn't matter who you vote for. You're going to end up paying more as the years go on. Check out Ron Paul or Dennis Kucinich, though. Those guys are basically the only two good men in Congress.

Real GDP per capita has been steadily rising.
You might pay more if you look at it nominally; adjust for inflation.

Eh its not so easy with Indians.

I would say a majority are Indians. The Indian community is really split into 3 major segments. (Indians in science/tech, doctors, and business owners)

The engineering/science community votes overwhelmingly democratic. The medical community is split but I would say on average leans Democratic (although even that varies if you look at what type of doctor they are and how their practice works) and the business community actually leans Republican.

But on the whole Indians are democratic. We are after all immigrants and many of us (such as my parents) came from relatively poor backgrounds so most of us haven't forgotten our roots.

that is my family in the business background, my dad was a doctor but now he and my uncle are business partners and own alot of convenience stores/fast food restaurants and a chain hotel, Im just curious how the vote would pertain to me as the owner of almost 30 ATM machines by the end of this year with an income over 6 figures but nowhere near 7 figures, which candidates views would I be after because any talk with my father ends with an argument that he's ignorant by saying republicans are for the rich and dems for the poor....guess its the law school student in me

    I will say one thing.

Your dad wouldn't be here if LBJ hadn't passed the big immigration reform bill of the time that ended the immigration quotas that existed before the 60s. And if Republicans had their way you wouldn't be a citizen (and neither would I) because the Republican Party officially opposes birthright citizenship now.

So think about that for a second. You can talk all you want about taxes and jobs, but at the end of the day you wouldn't be here and you wouldn't have the opportunities given to you with a Republican outlook on immigration.

My dad immigrated here from India and created a business from nothing. He is the stereotype of what the American dream can be. But he's also not stupid enough to pretend that lower taxes and deregulation are why he is successful or why he even had the chance to come here. He is here because universities were better funded and he consequently had an easier time earning a scholarship to come here. (instead of the status quo where universities prey on foreign students for international fees) In today's economy, my parents could never have afforded to come here because it is simply too expensive now.

If all you care about is lining your pocket book, then I wont lie to you. Vote Republican and keep doing it. They will reward you like they reward the rest of the rich in this country. If you believe in the idea that others can move their way up in society as my parents did, then vote for the party that actually makes an attempt to help the poor.
