Don't like to hop on the fire everybody bandwagon, but this was the defining game. Something is missing with our little team, and it might be time for someone that can light a fire. What do you guys think?

Why wouldn't Shanahan come to Houston?

If Kubiak gets fired, Shanahan will not come here.

I like Kubes and think he is a good coach but I have come to the conclusion he is the guy to build the team but not the guy to take them to greatness. Cowher or Gruden are the best bets because Kubes is a mini Shannahan and Holmgreen isnt coming here, he is a northwest guy and isnt coming to the southwest.

Don't forget Shanahan's son is the Texans OC. He would also get the pink slip.

    My wish list order:

    1. Bill Cowher
    2. Jon Gruden
    3. Leslie Frazier
    4. Jerry Grey
    5. Mike Zimmer
    6. Mike Mularkey
    7. Russ Grimm

I would put Lovie Smith at number 3 if he gets fired.

My wish list goes like this:

    1.Bill Cowher
    2.John Gruden

    3.Jim Harbaugh
    4.Perry Fewell

The last two names I spaced out because I really want to have one of the first two. The last two names are also two people who I think will some day be good NFL coaches, but may take some years of grooming.

I truly agree that Kubiak has to go. I love the guy. Think he's a great person and a good offensive mind(as a matter of fact, as I've said here before, I went to school, from elementary through my sophomore year of high school, with his niece. Nice people). I just don't think Kubiak will get us over the hump. He need to motivate this team. As a true sign that we are not well coached, look at our penalty numbers the last few games. Among other things, I think that is a main reason for our losses.

It was funny watching the CBS recap of the game. All the guys sat around talking about the Colts and Texans, except Cowher, who looked somewhat uncomfortable. I'm thinking that Cowher has had contact with the Texans (although it was probably insignificant) since that report about him came out. The only thing he said was at the very end of the segment, "Dallas Clark had 9 catches today, and the Colts won. Owen Daniels was playing as good as any tight end in the league when he was injured, and the Texans haven't won a game since. It's a critical position in this league."

As long as McNair will shell out the dough, Cowher's coming to Houston, in my biased Texans' mind.

Shanahan and Holmgren are poor choices to take over - they haven't been worthwhile for a long while (despite a Super Bowl appearance by Holmgren).

Cowher is the guy. Give him a blank check.

Cowher all the way! He's been a champion has the EXPERIENCE of winning, that's what we need. He'll also bring an overall attitude to this team that is in some places already starting to show

The problem is Cowher says he doesn't want to talk till after the season.
We need an understanding now, before Coach Kubes is let go.

I'd love to eat crow and be wrong but Houston ain't going to draw a guy like Cowher, we might get guys like Gruden or Shannahan (please NO); but for whatever reason, across all Houston Sports we never can draw the cream of the crop.

Depends on which teams are looking this offseason. Nobody is going to pick Buffalo or Washington over Houston.

If all three teams are offering the same amount of money, probably not.

If he really wants one of these coaches though, Snyder might offer some insane amounts of money.

Rumor is that Mike Martz wants in at Buffalo. I don't think he'd be a bad fit....

That's because the cream of the crop usually stays where they are. The Rockets managed to get the best two "free agent" coaches for their last two hires. Houston's plenty good as a destination.

Now, whether McNair is willing to give Cowher a huge fat check is questionable though.

The Rockets have had 2 excellent coaches back-to-back in Adelman and Van Gundy. The Astros had the opportunity to get a very highly regarded manager in Acta before McLane cheaped out.

Cowher expressed interest, this isn't coming out of nowhere.
