Sometimes it's easy to forget the big picture. Most likely, if the Rockets do not win a championship this year, the next 5 years will not look good.

We have a lineup of Yao, Scola, Battier, Artest, Alston, (and T-mac when he comes back) that has rewarded us #1 in the Southwest and tied for #3 in the West. I think this is the last year we seriously make a run for it, and we should savor every moment.

I agree, to an extent. We should savor every moment. However, we're not like the Spurs who have dominated the league (for the most part) for the past few seasons and this is the final stand of our dynasty...

We have gotten nowhere. It's kind of sad that our "last run" doesn't come after any success.

Btw I still think we can be competitive for the next couple seasons as long as Artest comes back. Or we pick up someone good.

Don't be so pessimistic man. We'll have the core group of players in their prime for the next several years. I can see the Rockets being a very competitive team for the next 3-5 years easy, especially if we get to re-sign Artest and upgrade our starting PG.

Cant agree more, this is our best lineup since we last got championship. Players fully gifted, and still our lineup is not completed, Tmac is out for three weeks. Im proud of our players.

    It's time.

why? I only see better things ahead. We could be seeing something real special in AB. SF3, Tmac and ron are all injured currently. And if things to do not work out this season, there is always the 2010 lottery. With morey around, you never know what can happen.

I can't see why we can still be good 3 to 5 years from now. The ONLY thing holding us back is injuries. Other than that, both Yao and Artest are in the middle of their primes. And I would say that Tmac is just about leaving his prime, but when healthy, he can still compete at a very high level. We have young guys like Brooks and Landry who are only going to get better. And we have a veteran team, but yet I don't see anyone on our roster (except for Brent Barry) retiring or declining significantly 3 to 5 years from now.

That's the equivalent of saying 'the only thing holding v-span back is that he sucks.'

You do realize we have crazy absurd cap space in 2010 right? We can either splurge on the market or keep the guys we got.

With Morey at the controls I'm confident we'll transition to a new era comfortably.

We have incredible trading pieces and cap space for 2010, this is definitely our last Tmac Year, but its not our last "shot-at-love".

We got next year at least if we can retain Ron Artest. 2010 will be a crapshoot though. I think next year will be our true last shot as a group, maybe this year if Artest doesn't resign.

    Anyways, worrries for another day.
