I was very suprised about the comments by Marc Jackson, but exited as well. Read about it in the wrap this morning in Houston, then thought about it the whole way up to FW. NIKEstrad has posted it with the draft article so I won't post it again, but here is my take on bringing MJ to Houston, the senarios it would bring on, and the rumors that will start:

Much Love - Love to hear good players give love to Houston. Are we the darlings of the PA. Kudos to Rudy and Carrol.

Webber, Webber, Webber - MJ would definetly fill our PF postion. Much better rebounder than Mo, but Webber is the man.

Backup plan - Gotta have a backup plan if we don't land Web. I assume this would start with Mo. I don't like Faulk, but would be willing to give him contract similar to the Cat. Taylor will the second best PF on the market so.....

Other Other FA - Gotta keep Anderson and Norris. These guys are key parts of this team. If we could land Davis, I would rather have a veteran.

How good is he? - Nice stats and is pretty athletic, 13.5 - 7.5 - 1.2. He also plays on a terrible team. How inflated are his #'s, who can say? He is a rookie, but he is 26. So we can't get into the mindset, think of him in 5 yrs. For a comparison, Mo wil be a 6 yr veteran at Marc's age.

Contract - Considering he will most likely comand 4.5 a year, I don't know if thats what we need. I don't see us giving a larger than Mobes contract to anyone other than a star or a good vet , so...

Considering all this, I don't see it happening. If it works out, great. He is certainly playing well this year. But lets not change the game plan we have, which I really like, for one good preseason game. Opps, we already did that. You know what I mean.

    Let the rumors begin.

Because this thread is about MJ and the senarios trying to bring him here. I was wanting response on MJ, signing Taylor, Norris, Anderson and how MJ would affect that. I am not really taking bout the draft, etc.

I doubt this will be the last "Let's sign MARC JACKSON" thread. Anyone want to lay some bets.

Marc Jackson is 6'10" and 270lbs. I would have no problem with him as a center.Dream is only 6'11" and 255lbs. As a starter Jackson averges 17 points and 10 boards a game. Not to bad. Not to mention he shoots over 80% from the free throw line. The guy is a very solid 5. Would it even be possible to get this guy with Webber? I doubt it but we can always Dream (pun intended).

If he really shoots 80% from the line, that is attractive. The one thing that sticks in my mind though is that the GS guy who always posts here (Swopa?) was talking about how he plays terrible defense. That's definitely not what we need. If his D is good, though, I might not be opposed to signing him (at 5 mil for a few years so GS can't match...better make that 4.51 mil) and then another big guy somehow and also keeping Mo, instead of trying to get Webber. Another thing is that this guy was a 2nd round pick. Everybody's always talking about signing these guys that are late picks that end up excelling on other teams, like Jackson, Jerome Williams, McCullough, etc. My question is--why don't we just draft our own big guy? You'd think Rudy and CD could come across one of these guys on their own one time. If we could just draft a big guy as good as Mobley or Cassell, we'd be set.
