it says the knicks drafted clients of Lebron James' agent hoping it would help them in the Lebron James derby in 2008, but i could swear i saw on sportscenter where he re-upped with the cavs for like 5 yrs and 80 million.

I think they've offered but he has not accepted... yet. This was a topic of debate on PTI last evening.

There has never been a problem with tweener players. The issue is their talent, mainly on offense. "Tweener" players like Ben Gordon, Dwyane Wade & AI flat out destroy taller players because they are quick and cannot be guarded. Most "tweeners" are just short/small shooting guards whose offensive skills don't compensate for their defensive shortcomings. Big difference.

Tweener guards while an issue to look at I never though it was big of one, either. What is a tweener anyway? Are they tweeners based on their size or their skills? Is it a guard that has handles but can't score? Is undersized at the 2? Tall for a point but has enough height on D to guard shooting guards?

If a team has a bunch of guys that can distribute the ball around and take care of it, it negates the need for a 'true' point guard. Like the Jordan teams and even the Hakeem championship years the point guard's role was lessened. All they needed to do was a 'combo' of bring the ball up the court, hit the outside shot, & play a little D. They didnt need to run the entire offense. Ron Harper played point for some Bulls teams and a tiny bit for the Lakers but was he a true point? Chauncey Billups is the point guard at Detroit but is HE even a true point?

If you have a guard that can dictate tempo and be a floor general, bring cohesion to a team like Nash and Chris Paul then its a plus. Like how having a 'real' center like Shaq and Yao is. You said it best, as long as their defensive shortcomings arent more than their offensive skills. Steve Francis and Marbury must be liking this new development....
