I know Rafer needs to start, but man, we really need to get more time for BJax and Aaron Brooks.

It is amazing how much better the 2nd unit runs the offense and scores at a more efficient pace.

If Rafer is shooting too much or not hitting his shots.....go to the bench....we finally have a decent alternative.

And Rafer usually responds to competition, so I expect a huge game out of him soon......if not....to the pine baby !

Rafer is in the process of being phased out. Next year will be Brooks and Francis.

    rafer is far too inconsistent.

Party True but mostly Rubbish- Francis is semi Retired, counting his money and enjoying life.
His best years were in Houston when he was out of control. :p

Why in the world would anyone think Francis would be an effective player at this point in his career? He hasn't done anything positive in years on a consistent basis.

Rafer is worlds better than Francis, and, even though I like Brooks, he's still too erratic and inconsistent to think he's ready to start. Hopefully, that will change by next year.

The yapping poodle can't help what he is: A substandard starting PG. When the playoffs start, Adelman better yank him faster when he falls apart.

True but wouldn't it be a great bonus if he comes back after the surgery and returns to his athletic self?

I mean he is only 30.....he is the wild card for next year.

Back on topic, the more I see of Brooks the more convinced I am that he can eventually be a starter, he is so quick and he has finally figured out that he belongs in the NBA.....

He is going to be a nice player.....

And Rafer has returned to his career averages unfortunatly.

If rafer werent such a horrible shooter he would be a top5 PG in this league with his sick handles and his low ast/to ratio

Where's the guy who argued with me and said that Bobby Jackson was to old to contribute to the Rockets? That's right Dave_78.

Bjax fits this team so much better than Bonzi......we have 2 viable PG options behind Rafer....and lord knows we are gonna need them.

Only someone as delusional as our coach thought he would be our starting point guard this year. Given the injury, I think he should be given the benefit of a doubt.

I agree. I think Francis could be quite serviceable as a combo 1/2 backup guard if he heals correctly from his injury but more importantly works on his game and conditioning in the offseason.

If he comes in healthy and ready to play he'll be a good contributer. I don't think he's lost any talent.

Otherwise, he's gonna be a no go.

It'ss great to see Brooks back out on court and producing. He gives the offense a whole other gear.

I loved watching Brooks take off down the court after an offensive rebound with Nash chasing him and trying to keep up, something Nash usually does to the Rockets.

I like that Adelman used his depth to go after Nash. It's funny to think about the Rockets pressuring the Suns like they did on offense, but that's what they did. The Suns defend the pick and roll horribly and Nash is a real liability against our quicker guards. Who knows if we could hang with the Suns over the course of seven games, but it would be an interesting match up. The recent good play by Brooks and Jackson is very encouraging. Adelman's adjustments have been superb.

I am still baffled why people hate Alston so much around here. It's not like he is tying up a lot of money, or standing in the way of better options. He has good handles, runs the offense, has an acceptable assist to turnover ratio and plays above average help defense. I also like his fire and the fact that he won't back down from anybody. The main thing he's not good at is shooting. If shooting were the be all/ end all, Novak would be an all star. I like the potential of Brooks and would love to see him emerge as the starter in the next few years, but the idea the Steve Francis is some kind of Saviour must surely be put to rest by now.

It would be sweet if we could package Rafer and Head for a solid playmaker.

    Sell high...

No one here has even suggested that, however, Francis is an ex all star, and Rafer cannot even dream of being an all-star. Being more effective than Alston doesn't make one a "Saviour", just a better player.

With good health, and if he gets in condition, he has game.

My apologies to DaDa if it seems like I'm hijacking the thread. I think he meant it to praise Brooks. But the title leaves the thread open-ended, me thinks.
