My understanding, which I don't have any links or sources for, is that the story leaked, and that they decided to respond. Was it the correct choice to throw together a news conference? That one I don't know.

dogs are like family to most people, theres nothing wrong with that.. and usually a man who treats his dog like a family member you'll find a caring man in all other aspects of his life.. but he seems to be saying he has two main priorites in life 1) his family and dog 2)and then the Rockets.. and by saying that he seems to stress to the questioner that the Rockets mean a great deal to him.

Who cares if Les is hiding. He did the right thing by letting Rudy resign and save face. It was time to go in another direction and I don't think many would disagree that there needed to be a change. How can you get mad at Les for wanting to make a better team?
having a better team needs sacrifice. and i think les made a good decision of lettin rudy on to the front-office job. so that rudy can give more attention to his health and so that his stress level maybe put to a minimum. but its hard to see a legend like rudy t go out like that..
