Tough neighborhood Rockets owner Leslie Alexander cannot believe how difficult the Western ConferencSie is this season. x of the seven teams in the Midwest Division have winning records, while three Pacific Division teams are above .500. Alexander admitted he sometimes longs to move the Rockets into the Eastern Conference, where New Jersey -- which has one more win than Houston -- leads the Atlantic Division. The Rockets are in fifth place in their division. "I'm always petitioning to get in the East," Alexander said. "I've offered (commissioner) David Stern 10 million bucks to get into the East. I said, `Dave, this is a bribe. Get me into the East. Here's 10 million.' He said, `I need 20.' " Would you all like it if it really happened? We would be in the NBA finals every year
Hell no, its the easy way out. The scrubs need to earn respect by playing against the best for the full season. As Houston fans we didnt like it when the people said the only reason we won the championship was because MJ was retired. Dont give the rest of the world a chance to start those type allegations again. If we want to claim to be the best we need to play against the best and beat the best period!
Actually what you said is true... we only won because GOD (MJ) retired, and to those that are going to say "Arrrgghhh, He came back during our run for the second championship, so you really can't say that!!!..." I'm a realist...
How can Houston be an eastern confernce team?(even though we played the same brand of ball) If they do that, the mavs be wanting to get into the east too.
Although I don't have the record, I think the Rockets generally faired well when they played the bulls. It would have been an interesting series, but to say we 100% would have lost is ridiculous.
Suck it up Les you pansy. Be champions of the East only to lose to the West in the finals....Wow that's great. Why dont you use that $10mil and get us a real PF and/or PG.
Obviously, he was joking. But joke or no joke, he clearly doesn’t have as much faith in this team as he had in the past, when he called them the greatest team ever assembled.
I have little to no respect for eastern conference teams, even the team that represents the conference in the finals. To hell with taking the easy path.
NO YOUR NOT!!!!!!! You either have no memory or are from Chicago. The Rockets owned the 'Bulls' during this period. Vernon Maxwell was the #1 at defending Jordan. The Rockets just had their number during this period.
Well I dont wanna beef with anyone, but what you said is exactly true. But then again I wouldnt expect HOMERS on this bbs to understand.
We don't know what would have happened, but besides that if you use this logic then All the champions before '84 should have an asterick saying Jordan was not in the league yet. The champion is the champion ... No astericks .. Even for the Spurs in the short season
I guess he is well on track, the entire coaching staff are ex-Knicks coaches/assistants and we now have Weatherspoon
