Ok, just have to put this out there. I am just as cautiously optimistic about Artest coming in as anyone, hopefully this works out well and the guy keeps his head screwed on straight. However, fact remains, dude is still potentially crazy and has a very well-defined history of many different episodes which could possibly damage the franchise, should they be repeated. It's a risk, but one we are all pretty much willing to take, because the rewards are potentially great as well. So, even with all the potential risks, welcome to town Ron-Ron. However, I think that with this signing, Les has removed any remaining excuses he may be hiding behind regarding Calvin. As I understand it, Les doesn't personally *like* Calvin, for whatever reason, but he can't use Calvin's alleged misdeeds as a shield any more, because Les is now openly saying that he is willing to bring the NBA's number one crazy man in here. LES ALEXANDER: Set aside your own personal petty biases, and give us fans what we want and deserve!!! BRING BACK CALVIN MURPHY NOW!!!!!!! You are bringing Ron Freaking ARTEST in here, for God's sake! Do the right thing! We have suffered enough with Clyde! BRING BACK CALVIN!!!
Les like many others really does believe Calvin molested his children. Calvin just had a good lawyer get him off. Beating a dog, a fan, or even your wife doesn't compare to molesting your children.
I used to want Calvin back, but after his radio show I would rather not. Just my opinion, which I know wont be a popular one here.
That may be, but last time I checked he was found innocent. You wanna condemn the man for something you couldn't possibly know if he did or not. Lets all claim that Boozer molested everyone here on clutchfans and get him banned from the NBA.
I didn't care too much to follow that story (don't care about his life, just want to be entertained) but what was it that made it so clear that he molested his children? He never seemed to fit the bill of a molester to me. The B****es (i don't call them men) that i know who have done things like this don't have his same demeanor.
I would say no to bringing Calvin back, and I could care less if he is a saint. His show SUCKS and I guess I was one of the few that didn't really care to hear how much Calvin liked cookies or how good somebody looked in their uniform. Give me Bullard any day.
There's a person where I work who wound up on TV after being arrested for having a sexual relationship with a 15 year old girl. This person was a Minister. You would have never known by her demeanor that she was child molester.
How many molester b****es do you know? I don't know how a molester is supposed to act but I suspect like any other criminal they can come in different shapes and sizes. As for Calvin being guilty, the Grand Jury was convinced there was a strong enough case against him to justify taking him to trial. That doesn't make him guilty, but just because he was aquitted doesn't make him innocent either. You only have to show a reasonable doubt to get aquitted. WHich is not hard to do in even a case with absolute evidence as seen in OJ's trial. But if you have a case where the crime took place 10 years prior, and your only real evidence is someone's word it's a piece of cake to create reasonable doubt. Okay so there isn't hard evidence outside of the 5 childrens word. What we do know is he stole 52,000 from his daughters that their deceased mother had left him the executor over after she died. Taking money from their dead moms pension and not giving it to his daughters who were in dire straits is worst than anything Artest has done. He also hid from his own wife for more than 20 years the fact that he had four other families. That's worst than Artest. He is a good announcer legendary Rocket so I try to cut him some slack but there is just too much smoke here.
He was found innocent in a court of law. We're all free to have our personal opinions on the matter. Maybe Les heard some other things, from his personal dealings with Calvin, that make him think otherwise. If nothing else, the guy is a grotesque philanderer and father of many illegitimate children.
Cylde has grown on me in a weird, totally unexplainable way. After hearing his show several times, I'd like to pretend that Calvin Murphy just retired happily to a ranch somewhere and no longer thinks about basketball.
He isn't banned from the NBA. His former employer doesn't want him back. He has a HOF in the booth as it is, and maybe he's not that good, but he doesn't want to deal with firing Clyde either. Also, I don't know anything about Calvin's personal life and I don't have any reason to think he's guilty. As far as I'm concerned, he's innocent. But I'm not Les Alexander. Perhaps Les does have reason to think he's guilty and just got off? If so, Les has no reason to bring him back.
Most seem to agree that by trading for Ron Ron the Rox have upgraded their basketball team. Now it's time to upgrade their broadcast team. Sorry Glide, bring back Murph.
I like Clyde I think he's funny when Yao dunks or posts up on someone or something and he's all "Throw it down big fella, and Mouse in the house!!!" that stuff is awesome
Whenever there's a national broadcast of a Rockets, I'll always watch that instead. I wish, some day, I'd prefer to listen to the local guys. That hasn't happened for me in many, many years.
